It will be fine. They aren't made for sustained cooking on high power. Popcorn is dry but oiled, so it gets very hot and burns. You can use the glass carousel plate or replace it. Depending how big the crack is, any water in the crack will finish it off. A new glass tray is $57. A new Microwave the same is $319. Samsung are one of the better makes.
Hi,
There are 2 things that cause the massive sparking:
1. you placed inside the microwave oven a metal plate or one with silvery or golden drawings;
2. the mica sheet that covers the magnetron window is compromised (has holes, it is cracked) or it is covered with burnt (carbonised) food.
You have to carefully inspect the mica sheet and wash or replace it, if necessary. Hope that helps.
Regards,
Dan
If there is a grill above the door, remove it. There will be two long screws that attach the unit to a metal plate. The metal plate is bolted to the wall. Once you loosen the long screws, the unit will tilt down and come off the wall.
The plate wasn't microwave safe or has a crack in it that had moisture in it to cause it to split. A new pyrex type glass plate will get it going again.
What usually happens to make the plate break or shatter is heat build up in one place, caused by spillage of food stuffs that have "welded" themselves to the plate or a scratch on the plate allowing water to enter and when it gets hot explodes the plate. There, from what you have explained and the information you have supplied, no reason to doubt the machine. A new plate and it should work again with no problem. Hope that puts your mind at rest.
The area will
first have to be sanded smooth and
cleaned and dried thoroughly.
If the cavity metal of
the oven is cracked or split, you can use a small amount
of steel-based epoxy such as JB-WELD
to patch the crack or hole.
Once that dries
thoroughly, you can sand it very smooth.
Then you can apply some
high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart,
Lowe's or Builder's Square. We're

Ok stop useing oven and unplug! THIS CAN BE FIXED!!! Go to a home improvment store and buy a small bottle of white liquid enamal....Clean up the area that is missing and flakeing and then apply the enamel over the hole and let dry overnight! now that the exposed metal is covered back up it is safe to use and will not spark or cause any more soot!
