Kitchenaid vented hood model KIRD801xss

Retractable(pop up)downdraft vent system just stoped working. Pushed the start button, but no sound or movement. Did not take out filter (that according to the manual can lock the system. It just doesn't pop up. The circuit breaker did not tip off, nor the receptacle -where the cord is pluged into- went bad (a lamp plugged into the same receptacle is working). There is no loose wire within. What to do? Thanks for any advice.

I have the same problem. My Model is KWCU380JSS1. One of the motors was broken. I replace with a new one. All connections are correct. But both motors don't run at all, while the lights work fine.

check for power going into the switch. (you need a meter) If the switch is set to "on" there should be power going in and out. Find a good ground or use the white wire to test. If there is, just follow the path of electricity. If you do not have a meter this is next to impossible to do.

Pull the range, remove the back cover and locate the thermal switch and the oven TOD. Check both parts for continuity. Replace any of them if it's open.

We have a Kitcheaid gas stove and have had 3 new thermostats installed. After the 3 time it finally did it's first full cleaning cycle.

So three service calls later, (first was after the warranty) and three thermosats and over $500 and the stove has done it's first full cleaning.

Lots of examples of this same problem but it seems no recall on the stoves.

SOURCE: Kitchen Aid downdraft hood stuck in retracted position

The filters need to be seated properly to complete an electrical safety circuit. This keeps the unit from operating without the filters. The best way I have found to fix them when they get dislodged in the closed position is by using two spatulas. The first is used to move the filter forward a bit and the second is used to keep it pushed tightly forward to complete the circuit.

Kenmore retractable vent keeps randonly going up and down , sometimes for 6-7 times before it will stop. How do we fix it?

I hope you have the $400 appliance insurance. I had the same problem in a new house purchase. First the downdraft wouldnt work, and then wouldnt stop.
It was a micro switch and motherboard issue. Took four visits by the (insurance paid for) techie to get and fit the right part. Good luck

Which is the best pop up down draft vent system? Do you have any reviews?

I wish I could offer some help but I am trying to solve the same question. There are almost NO reviews out there on the internet for any downdraft vents. There are also NO noise ratings on the fans (though ceiling fans all have ratings). It would seem that the taller the vent, the better positioned it is to draw off cooking fumes but other than that and the power of the motor (and perhaps ease of cleaning), I've no idea how to select a unit. HELP!

Downdraft vent won't stay down. Push the button and it retracts normally, then pops right back up?

check your bottom limit switch - i'm guessing its bad. the unit doesn't stop operating til it trips a (working) limit switch, if the switch is bad it'll cyle right past it and go back up until it hits the top limit switch (again).

Kitchenaid downdraft retractable vent

Your drive motor arm is not making contact with either of the two limit switches at 6 and 12 positions. Your arm may be loose, gear stripped, broken bracket. Turn off the power at the breaker panel and remove the vent pipe cover box (4 nuts) see what is going on inside. Tellstar
