The oil in my Cecilware El250 starts to get hot but then stops, even if I push the reset button, it still doesn't get hot.
Check the thermostat bulb that's in the oil. make sure there are no kinks in the tubing as there is a gas inside the cappillary that expands when it is heated. it connects to the thermostat inside the unit. the thermostat has a thin diaphragm inside that presses against a switch to turn the elements on and off.

With the igniition off, press and hold the odometer button, turn the key to the "on" position, but do not start the car. Keep the odometer button down until the oil light begins and ends flashing. Turn the key off, and then start car to see if it worked or not.

How to Reset the Change Oil Light
After changing the engine oil, the system must be reset.
With the ignition key to ON, push the RESET button
located in the driver's side instrument panel fuse block. The
CHANGE OIL light will start to flash, press and hold the
RESET button again. The reset is complete when you hear
the chimes sound and the CHANGE OIL light goes out.
