SOURCE: Hello I have a Pioneer XC-L11

It is most likely that the laser pick up is bad. That is the part that reads the disc and is the most common reason. You can try a lens cleaning disc to see if it just needs to be cleaned, but if that does not work you will need to take it in for service. This problem can be caused by several different things, from the spindle motor (spins the disc), to the pick up (reads the disc), or even an IC that controls one of those things. Once you have cleaned the lens, you can also try cleaning the disc's. If a disc has a fingerprint or scratch in the area of the disc that is know as the TOC (table of contents), it will not read the disc. Fingerprints in other areas of the disc will cause the player to skip or even stop playing. I use windex and a soft cloth like a bath towel to clean the disc's, it works as good or better than the disc cleaning kits you can purchase, and it is much cheaper.

If none of this helps, it has a problem that only a trained technician can figure out with the proper test equipment. Then you must decide if it is worth getting fixed. Some service centers offer free estimates, but those are the ones that don't actually check your equipment first before giving an estimate. They just give you a ballpark figure that is usually pretty high. To get an acurate estimate you normally have to pay for it. A technicians time is worth money, my shop charges $25 for an estimate. That is pretty cheap. Some are as high as $65 for an estimate. But if you are paying for an estimate, they will normally at least troubleshoot the unit and determain just what the problem is, compared to a free estimate which is just a guess and a ballpark figure usually high to cover the cost no matter what the problem is. You may also end up paying much more for a repair when you get a free estimate, because you have already approved that amount, and many shops will charge you that much even if they find a simple problem that only takes 30 minutes to fix.

Replacing a pick up normally cost about $125 to $150 because the part can sometimes cost as much as $75.

I hope this was helpful for you and lets you make an informed decision. let me know if you need any more help.

SOURCE: 6 CD PLAYER FORD EXPLORER

usually these are not an economical repair, you either have a mechanical jam in the cd transport mechanism or you have a servo motor problem. you may be able to find a used working unit cheper then repairing you unit also when a repair is done on these changers they have a high repeat failure rate. If a local service center could just remove the jammed cd's and let it reset itself then try it again and see if it fails right away or works correctly, then you may have an idea on which way to procede

CDs can be removed but you must use great caution not to break or bend mechanism components. Its better to have unit serviced by pro/tech

The cd player goes into a "skipping" "playing really fast" mode occasionally. Esp. 3rd track, 1st cd. Always has.

It's having trouble reading the CDs. The thing that reads it could be dirty. But try a different cd. The CD player is getting old and if there is even a small scratch it will be hard to read it. A new CD player would be the way to go

It's dead. Mine did the same thing, but I noticed also that the disc never spun up fast enough to be read successfully. I'm guessing that the motor just lost its oomph. I imagine that one way or another it's fixable, but with portables so cheap and a player this old not being able to read anything but manufactured CDs, i.e., no CD-R, CD-RW, etc., it's not worth it. And mine was old enough to vote! :)

It sounds as if the power leads are not connected properly.

Make sure the memory lead is connected to a constant 12+ volt source, and the switched lead is connected to a 12+ volt power source that is controlled by your ignition switch.

Burned DVDs play on PC but won't play on home player. I have 3 PC (2HPs and 1 Parts built),running XP home, pro, media. I bought 2 Samsung SH-S182 DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner, and have tried them on all 3...

Nero 6 and 7 does not provides us the facilitiy of burning the DVD in appropriate DVD Format. Instead it burns the DVD in the normal DATA Format, which is not supportable by our DVD Player. To play the DVD in our DVD Player we should burn the DVD in the appropriate DVD Burner which itself converts the extension of the movie and make it proper for a DVD Player to read it. It also adds some files to the DVD which is sometimes used by the dvd player in running the DVD.
