That really sounds like the imaging unit cleaner has an issue.
If you have one try the imaging unit, I really suspect that is your problem.
Black is Faded or Missing Step 1 Clean the Laser Windows and Remove Excess Toner From the Imaging Unit Step 2 Check or Replace the Imaging Unit Gear Retaining Pin Step 3 Replace the Imaging Unit (installation instructions) ic-film.gif
See if this link works. Xerox is infameous for these not working.

Is there a specific code coming up? That can make it easier to pinpoint the exact problem.

Hold down Back and Information and turn on the printer. You enter in service mode. Then you can reset CRU counters.

Good luck!

SOURCE: phaser 6250 transfer roller

Hi clwest: I hope that this will help you.

Transfer Roller is at End of Life
■ Print the Supplies Usage page to verify the remaining life and Transfer
Roller install date.
■ Cycle printer power.
■ If the problem persists, follow the procedure below
Note
Look at the clear plastic window on the Transfer Roller. If toner is present in the
center of the window the Transfer Roller is at end of life and needs to be
replaced. If no toner is visible, try cleaning the CTD (ADC) Sensor.
The “Transfer Roller is at End of Life” is a warning. “Replace Transfer Roller” is
a hard stop.

SOURCE: Xerox 6250dp

I had this problem when I used a generic toner. I installed a xerox cyan toner, then printed many sheets of a large blue rectangle. After about 15 pages the blue started to spread into the shape, after 30 pages the blue was back. Printing a lot of blue was necessary to get the new toner thru the system.

Xerox Phaser 7750 The printer's black fades print after print and totally vanishes. I tried replacing Imaging Unit, Toner, cleaning by wand, etc.

If it is only happening in black then it has to be something prior to the toner reaching the transfer belt; such as toner, developer, imaging unit, or laser. It sounds like you've already cleaned the laser window, replaced the toner, and image unit, so I would inspect the developer. Remove the black image unit and use a flashlight to inspect how well toner is covering the magnetic roller on the developer. You may want to compare it to a developer of a working color to see if they look similar. Also, make sure there are no foreign objects near where the image units go. If an object came loose in there, the arm will not close correctly which could cause the image unit to not make contact with the developer. Hope this helps, and thanks for using Fixya.

It is constantly jamming when we try to do a duplex print

Since duplex doesn't get used a lot, much dust collects in the duplex unit. Remove it and thoroughly clean it by blowing dust off. Look for scraps of paper that might have settled in there.

Xerox Phaser 6250

How Brave is Jan?

Doubt it be the fuser(100 000life), "just magenta dots".... fuser would be "all smudged" or "black marks" , "the print rubs off" , "paper is creasing or jamming"

Can prove it by stopping a print (open door) when paper is1/2 way threw machine, you need to stop it before it goes threw the hot bit, so you can tell if the hot bit (fuser) puts the marks on the paper.

Transfer roller one would expect to effect whole print Smudged/Faint,uneven density

It will be the imaging unit ( 30 000 pagelife Ouch$ ) or possible leaking toner (if aftermarket)

Remove imaging unit and inspect film you should find image of lines, dots are usually chips or sticky stuff on drum surface, carefull no oily human fingers on surface please.

When stopping machine mid print and perfecting your timing, pull out the imaging unit and look at replica of your print notice if marked and where.

Hope this helps
