The icemaker in my HSS25GFP stopped working a few weeks back. After reading alot of the posted solutions to similar problems it seemed that the most recommended course of action was to just get a new icemaker. I purchased and installed a new icemaker; it made not difference at all. Here are the symptoms:
- Ice maker unit is on
- No ice cubes are produced from the icemaker unit.
- Water flows into ice tray OK.
- Water freezes in ice tray and then the ice cubes just sit there in the tray. The heater never comes on. The motor never trys to flip them out of the tray into the ice bin. Ice cubes are never released from the tray into the ice bin.
What can I check or do from here? I'm an engineer so I'm not afraid to take stuff apart and test voltages, etc. Thank you.

Re: Hotpoint HSS25GFP icemaker stopped working
Are u sure that model # Is right.. DOnt come up in any of my model data bases
Seems like u might of got a bad icemaker.. if the water is coming into the icemaker from the water valve..
icemaker has to have power, to do that... all funtions after that would be controled by the iceaker ..
The only other thing i can think of is your refrigerator has to be a certain temp to activate icemaker somewhere around 0 give or take some to be safe

The icemaker system on these machines requires 3 things: A working ice maker. a working water valve, and 28 degrees or better in the freezer. Nothing else in the frig controls ice production. Most times the water valve goes first. It is recommended to replace it when replacing the ice maker. Replace the water valve now and see if the ice production starts up. If it does not you will need to get a new ice maker, the old ones are not repairable.
The stop bar is a level switch that is either not rising or is defective. You can check with the a parts supply to see if you can purchase this switch separately. If you cannot, you need to replace the ice maker unit.
