HPL7780 and Linksys WRT54GS V7

Upon inputting the WEP password for a wireless network the printer states it is active on the network but instantly freezes and has to actually be reset by pushes the 6 and # key while unplugging and then reinserting the power cord. You can't even turn it off or unplug it to break the freeze. HP says it has something to do with the Linksys wireless router. Any clues? I know it won't hold a manually input IP address. It constantly resets to all zeros. Any word on what may fix this issue?

I am having the same problem. I have the same Linksys router and the printer freezes everytime I connect to the wireless network. I am able to connect a network cable direct from my printer to the router and have no problems but as soon as I disconnect the printer freezes.

Actually, the best thing to do is disable the ethernet. There is a firmware problem on this model printer. By disabling the ethernet the wireless will work just fine.

Where is black ink cartridge located

What you want to do is first connect to the network by plugging it in to the lan (not wireless). Go through configuration, select wireless, and click temporarily connect through lan. Configure the wireless network there, and you'll be good to go.

I need to find my linksys wep key for my home network

Plug your PC into the router using a standard ethernet cable. Log in to the router's configuration screens by bring up a browser and typing in the router's IP address (generally the same as the IP address your PC obtains from the router, except the last portion is replaced with "1"). Navigate to the "wireless security" portion of the configuration utility, and either read off your current WEP key, or (if it shows only as little dots) replace the WEP key with a new one that you can remember.
