You do have to make sure to switch the settings to an external antenna. You also will have to check that you have what is an analog signal available to you. If you antenna is analog it will only get analog broadcast. You may also need to switch to a digital tv antenna, The other thing is the range of you antenna. Most indoors, in a congested area will only pull in signal from about 20 to 25 miles out.

How do i pick up hd channels?

You need to subscribe to cable or satellite. OR try an HD OTA (over the air) antenna. For best results you should get a directional antenna and point it in the direction of your nearest transmitter.

Indoor HD antennas don't work well unless you are very close to the transmitting tower. You really want to be on the roof, as high as practical without tall. Here is a fantastic resource that will tell you all you need to know about antennas

http://www.antennaweb.org/default.aspx

This site will help you point it.

If you have multiple transmitters that you want to pick up you may want to use an antenna rotor that will allow you to point the antenna in the direction of the transmitter without the hassle of climbing onto the roof.

I'm sure there are local antenna installers if you are uncomfortable with climbing your roof or running the wire.

Hope this helps.

A GPX model tvwb534 connecte to an indoor rabit antenna doesn't work?

You either may have the set on Cable setting or the signal is too weak for the set to pick up the channels---indoor antennas have a very limited range and many channels have ended on air broadcasts completely

Sharp Aquos LC 32G4U not receiving any channels-

Most locations are real hard to get local stations using indoor antennas. If you are in a location where you do not have cable, I would try either a outside antenna on the roof or go with Direct TV Dish / Dish Network system.
I hope this helps,

How to connect an AKAI LCD tv to an INDOOR antenna. I have set the TV from cable to "air".

Put tv on air, connect antennae to the coaxil input on back of tv.
You can also go to tv's menu and find the "autoprogram" feature and select it. Let it run thuroughly until it is done searching all available channels. Tv. may need to be on channel 3 or 4 to use the antennae/converter box

IS MY TV DIGITAL?

yes you will. either install an outside antenna or get a good amplified indoor antenna. try your old antenna first, but when your picture freezes or it says something like " weak signal " you will need that new antenna

Is my tv digital already or do I need a converter?

Your TV does have a digital tuner in it already. Also a converter box is only needed if you use an Antenna to recieve TV. So if you have Cable or Satillite, you will not need a box at all.

HD ready?

The TV is just HD ready (doesn't have the HD tuner built-in), you need a separate HD tuner connected to your TV.
