The most common reason it won't connect is that you must have the router's IP number (the one listed as default IP in the manual) set as the GATEWAY address on your computer network settings and your xbox settings, otherwise they can not talk to the router.
no, you do not need software for your router, you need manual. there is no router which need software installed on the computer. try download manual from this site:
The default userrname and password for the DX-E402 router are "admin" for both fields, so as long as they have not been changed, you should be able to log in by going to 192.168.1.1 in your web browser and entering the username and password.
I'm not familiar with that particular router, but all of them are about the same. You can go in and edit firewall settings to allow a particular IP address to have access. Don't disable the firewall completely, just set it to allow that I.P address to have full access.
First make sure your security type on the router is WEP-Personal. You may need to get the port range for that game or manufacturer. Then enter them in to the gaming tab. This will keep ports open all the time. NAT 2 is acceptable but you want NAT 1. Some internet connections cannot get NAT1.reply if you need further assistance
Unfortunately, the DX-E402 is not a wireless router, so it can not transmit its signal without a physical cable connecting the router to your computer. If you want a wireless router that can also connect to your ISP, check out the Dynex Enhanced Wireless G Router:
