Question about Moen & One Handle Tub & Shower Faucet
Just installed the Moen shower faucet and the water will not turn off. The valve stem just rotates 360's.
Single cartridge? pull old one, flush some water through empty valve then install new cartridge. once installed, make sure the horseshoe clip is properly inserted to keep the stem in. once the clip is in right, there is a chrome tube with a ridge that slides over the barrel and the clip. the ridge acts as the stop for the handle. also make sure there are stops inside back of handle to hit the ridge on the chrome tube. the plastic inside the handle may break off allowing the handle to spin. the stem unit/cart may also be installed 180 degrees out of place. pull the lock clip and use the remover tool that came with new cart to rotate it 180 degrees with water supply turned off.

take out the cartridge from the fixture and make sure it has all of the "O" rings and stoppers.
look at the instruction again, make sue you are installing it the right side up. if all that, the shower still leak, then you need to talk to the place you brought the fixture, it may have a defective cartridge.

hi... yes that's a very common issue with moen "cartridges" -- it's very simple to fix..... grasp the handle and give it a gentle tug upwards when the water is on... if it retracts again, pull the handle out again and tug again but this time a bit harder. Not sure what causes this on new cartridges but it will fix your issue.

Here is a quick check to see if the cartridge may be at fault allowing the cold and hot to mix. Turn off the hot water supply, with hot water supply off turn faucet on. Turn to the hot and cold sides, If you have only cold water then your faucet cartridge is at fault or the cartridge housing is worn. Shut all supply valves and remove cartridge and inspect housing for signs of wear. If wear is visible a new shower valve is needes. If none visible replace cartridge. I have included a link of a PDF file an exploded parts list. I hope this helps in solving your problem. Please rate if the answer helps in any way. Good Luck and have a great week. Jeff
