Question about Canon PowerShot A410 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Taken pictures appear with horizontal lines

I have my canon powershot A410 for one year and a half. But after I taked some pictures, the pictures appeared blurred or it is full of horizontal lines on the pic. I tried it with a flash and without but its all the same, I tought it first maybe it must be the lens, but when I sync with my PC, It's all the same pictures full of horizontal lines. What should I do? Is the problem from the lens or the image processor?... e-mail me and I will send you the sample images of the camera.. thank you very much for the assistance and consideration...

This is exactly the problem that's just suddenly developed with my 2 year old A410. In all other respects this camera has been absolutely brilliant.

Whenever I half click for a image, It does focus correctly, green rectanles also come, but after full clicking the button, proper image is not captured. White belts are coming over the entire photographs.

But, I can do video recording very well with the camera.

I have made all the setting as default, byt then also it is giving the same results.

It is certainly the CCD failing. Now you have had it over a year so warranty is out. But there have been instances of certain CCD's being subject to a recall- and the camera being replaced. Give Canon a support a go - you may get lucky.

Horizontal lines on the pictures

if they are lines like these Canon Repairs the products also out of warranty. It is a sensor problem where some wiring come off with temperature shifts.
Look at the pictures here and google for Canon Sensor recal:

Cannon PowerShot A80. Pictures come out with red tint and what appears to be horizontal lines across complete image. However, record video without problem.

If camera shows previously taken pictures in playback mode and does notshow live view to take fresh pictures then it is ccd imager chipfailure. CCD imager will be replaced in your Canon A80 camera.
Canon offers free of cost ccd imager replacement, click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details.

Horizontal lines on Canon A410 images

This sounds like a 'stuck shutter'. Especially if it does not make the faint clicking noise when taking a picture anymore.

Try the solution on the following page at your own risk.

Cannon s 500 Picture with Just lines

Hi,
This is a known issue with Canon, it's mentioned on their support pages, FAQ ID: 37383. Horizontal lines appear in the preview picture once the photo is taken. I have a Canon Ixus 500 and I rang Canon UK and they gave me a case number and list of authorised dealers via email for a free repair.
Hope this helps
