We found a ZEN Vplus...can't get it to turn on. The computer recognizes it tho. Tried the solution below (hold the on switch and reset) and still no power. The computer recognizes the reset however. Anything else I can do?

My Zen V was not used for several months. When I finally went to use it, it was dead. I tried recharging the battery by plugging it into the computer via USB, and also using a USB based charging unit. Neither has worked & I have tried both several times. We got a new computer since the last time I used it, so no software is currently loaded for it. When I try to load the creative software (with the unit connected via USB), the software doesn't recognise the player, and won't load.

If I take it out I can't et the on switch to stay on. I tried Zen's fix it online site and then this site.

I reset the device and nothing happened.

ZEN V Plus Does Not Power On or Charge

  • komaru6 Jul 24, 2008

I'm having the same problem. I went to plug it in, and after being hooked up, it suddenly just turned off. The computer knows that its there (when lugged in or unplugged it makes the noise) but can't be found on 'My Computer'. It will not turn on, it won't charge and putting the pin in the reset button does nothing.

Zen V is dead
"If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."

I can't open my zen v plus and it always light up and there's no start up screen

Can it still play music if you press play after it lights up?
Can you still connect it to a computer?

This sounds like a dead screen, which means it is time for a new player.

I`ve had the same problem twice, it seems the player erases the whole firmware when this happens. You can fix this by plugging it to your computer in recovery mode, this will allow you to reinstall firmware.(Search google for zen nano plus recovery mode to find instructions.)

Zen V Plus problems with brightness

Have you tried updating the firmware of your Zen V Plus? I've had mine for almost an year and haven't had these issues -- I updated the firmware as soon as I unpacked it.

try downloading the
MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.

By the way, before updating the firmware, let the battery have a full charge, ok
