Cracked/broken screen I sat on my gigabeat when i was driving the car ... i did'nt exactly jump down on it or anything and although there is no external damge i think i cracked the internal screen. Os it possible to eplace this screen?
Exact same problem. My son had his Gigabeat in his pocket when leaving school and when he got into the car the outer glass cracked as well as the LCD display itself. Any help in finding one would be appreciated....or even a repair center since Toshiba completed dropped this great product from a support standpoint.Exact same problem. I didn't even sit on it or directly impact it.. the LCD just cracked and dumped its liquid... i think they need to shield it better in the next releases because i have been very careful yet it cracked.
And the biggest problem is that i can't find a replacement.. i think i will have to go with any compatible LCD if there is any. I just solved the same problem yesterday. When you download the firmware, save it to yur desktop and burn a CD because the gigabeat won't get it unless there is an actual CD in the rom.
Now, connect the gigabeat to the computer and let the firmware install. The unit will automatically restart twice. Here's the tricky part. You have to hold down the start button on the device until you see the start screen. (It took awhile for me to figure that out!)
After I saw the start screen, I saw that all my files were there! YAY
cracked screen!
was sat on, so screen has cracked but no broken.
it still takes photos and i can download my pictures onto the computer and the come out perfectly, it's just that i can not view the pictures on the screen properly!
where do i take it to get fixed?
I live in Adelaide, South Australia
Hi Lorna,
Yeah I found my Gigabeat froze a few different times when I was getting used to it.
Solution: at the bottom of player there is a little battery on/off switch - its tiny and black but you would have needed to switch it on to first use it. Well turn it off here for 10 seconds and the on again. This removes all power from the hard drive and circuits which occassionally freeze.
Hope that helps
I have the same problem. The thing is that you need a software that coverts your Mp3s to .sat I have looked forever now but havet found one still. I belive that you have to use a japanees software(according to my friend I got mine from).
Actually, like u said, thats weird. There is this website, especially made for resolving gigabeat problems http://www.mygigabeat.com/forum/forums.cfm?conferenceid=02C28E3C-3048-2906-EAB68973002899DD
