Ive been using this unit for about a year and have had no problems up until now. My display for some reason suddenly got smaller. I can still see the entire window, but there is a portion about 2 inches wide on the right and half an inch on the bottom of the screen that suddenly no longer displays anything, almost as though the computer doesnt know that its there. Along the right side the screen is black, and the bottom there are many lines of different colors. The computer is still working fine except for this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions to get the full screen working again?
After doing some of the trouble shooting tips, nothing happened. Then, for apparently no reason, after about a day of not using the computer the whole screen started working. but its blurry, like it is stretched. I fooled around with the video options, but nothing worked. Do you know what could have caused any of this, or how to make the screen clear again? After doing some of the trouble shooting tips, nothing happened. OK, now the screen went back to only being about 3/4 a screen. Does this seem like there is a bad connection between the computer and the screen? Is there a physical problem with the screen? Sorry about the situation changes, but my computer seems pretty random about this right now.OK, now the screen went back to only being about 3/4 a screen. Thanks, I thought that this may be whats wrong for a while, but right now my screen is clear as can be, its just that the window is only taking up about 2/3 the screen. There is a portion of the screen at the bottom and right side that doesnt work, but the entire wondow is squeezed into the area that does work, and perfectly focused, so there isnt any part of the window that i cant see.
A couple days ago, the full screen started to work again, but it was out of focus(This was one of the posts). And then afer a couple days it went back to the squashed but clear screen(Last post). Im not sure whats causing these changes, It seems like the computer is capable of displaying a full clear screen, just not at the same time.
Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, I thought that this may be whats wrong for a while, but right now my screen is clear as can be, its just that the window is only taking up about 2/3 the screen. Should you need any help replacing this, this site has instructions on replacing the LCD, as well as how to figure out which version of the LCD your laptop uses. Apparently Toshiba used more than one version in their M45-S351

They also sell the displays, but I didn't see how good their prices were, since I didn't know which one you needed.

Well this is unusual & interesting.. (sic)I can still see the entire window(sic) I wonder if somehow the Display Drivers have gotten Screwed up.. Try un-installing your graphics hardware Drivers, then re-install the latest Drivers for your system.
Of course B4 ya do any of that try adjusting your windows display to any other resolution and see if this changes things..

Ok that comment about it being "Blurry" thats wat game me the Clue... what is happening is the Horizontal Output section is going faulty... this is where a number of voltages are produced also the "Focus" mechanism.. on the Horizontal Output transformer there is a control that one can adjust to "Focus" the CRT .. the fact that ya had that last problem and now with the "Focus" I am fairly sure thats whats wrong.. Hmmm time for a nice new LCD ?Ok that comment about it being "Blurry" thats wat game me the Clue... what is happening is the Horizontal Output section is going faulty... this is where a number of voltages are produced also the "Focus" mechanism.. on the Horizontal Output transformer there is a control that one can adjust to "Focus" the CRT .. the fact that ya had that last problem and now with the "Focus" I am fairly sure thats whats wrong.. I had this same problem. There could be a few reasons. Starting with the simplest: Finger placement; sometimes your fingers may wrap around and touch the screen while using it causing the proximity sensor to turn the display off. Screen protectors; I got lucky because my problem was being caused by the screen protector i was using. It had come off a bit in my pocket and gotten scratched on the part that touches the screen which messed up with the proximity sensor. All i had to do was take off the protector and the problem was fixed. Sensor Malfunction; The proximity sensor in the phone is malfunctioning and you can try to hard reset the phone but usually if it is malfunctioning you just need to get it fixed or replace the phone. If your phone is still under warranty you should probably use it.
Sounds like you need to reset AppsLib.
This fix will wipe all your data, so be sure to back everything up.
Go to Settings.
In settings go to Go to "Privacy".
Select Factory Reset.
Select Reset Device.
-----------------
Connect the unit to the computer using the USB cable and "Select" Erase
Everything"
The following will occur:
• The screen will display COBY
• The screen will display Android
• The unit will reboot to the Menu screen
Step 6- The unit will prompt to calibrate. Hold stylus on the center of the target.
Repeat as the target moves around on the screen. ****DO NOT *** press Return or Home".
The unit will display "calibrate success" and will return to the main /home menu automatically. If for any reason the unit went into standby mode and the touch screen does not respond, reset the unit using a pin.
----------------------------
After the Factory Data Reset, do not launch the Applibs yet until:
1- You have configured your Wi-Fi
2- Check/enable "Unknown Sources"- Go to Settings, Application Setting. Done.
If the serial number isn't present on the outer case then you can find it another way.
Turn on the machine and press and hold the battery icon until the screen goes into diagnostic mode. The data displayed on the 1st screen will include the serial number. CAUTION: don't fiddle with any settings unless you know exactly what you're doing, but there are a few useful items on some screens including the facility to set the headphone output to line output. It's really useful if you want to stream music from the machine into an audio head unit.
this exact same problem happened to me 5 months ago, i had the fone replaced with insrance and again i have the exact same prob! obviosly a recurring prob
Its not actually a problem or a fault, its just a setting that has been changed in the video card settings.
There are two ways to fix it.
One of them is to adjust the resolution, right click on your desktop and select properties, from there select the last tab which says settings, see the resolution slider, slide it towards the higher end, where the numbers get bigger, and apply, if the problem got worse you have gone to the wrong direction, if the black area is smaller or gone you have gone to the right direction. adjust the resolution until you don't have black outside on the display.
if the text and icons become too small, you need to open the advanced settings from the page, and find monitor scaling settings so that the computer fills the whole screen regardless of the resolution in use.
After you have found the scaleing setting you can go back to the resolution slider and slide it down untill you can read the screen well, the picture should cover the whole screen.
You machine has an internal leak and this is why you shots were getting smaller and smaller. The more time goes by the more it leaks, hense, the reason for smaller shots.
You should have someone look at your machine.

It sounds like a capacitor in the power supply is just about to die. With the power disconnected have a look at the large tin can looking gizmos near the power transformer. There could be a couple of them. Leave the unit switched off for a while before going near them they could still pack a splat. Replace them with the same value and make sure they're connected the right way and it should solve your problem.
Whilst in there have a good look for any other smaller capacitors which look as if they're getting rounded at the top. Replace them too.
Either that or dig deep and buy a new one.
