Ok I feel totaly stupid.
Two questions:
1. Where is the cmos battery for an acer aspire 1690 laptop? I've removed the keyboard, opened the bottom access doors. Maybe its been abducted by an alien...
2. is the BIOS chip soldered or a plugin?

Hi I have found you a service manual that should tell ya all.

The BIOS in most lappy's are usually soldered I expect this to B the same.
