How i can download norton updates - Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2008: Windows

I think you are confusing the Windows Update with the Norton Automatic update.

Please open your Norton product and see if the status is at "Secure" on the top of the program.
If it is secure with a green mark, you need not worry.

If it shows at "Risk", do the following steps:
Check if the Windows update is turned on or off.
Check if the computer's date and time is running correctly
If the problem still persist, reinstalling the Norton program will definitely fix the issue

To reinstall we need to first download the setup file from the link www.norton.com/nis11, which will download the latest version of Norton Internet Security.

Double click the downloaded file and that will remove the existing version and install the latest version.

There are many reasons for the issue.
Please check if the computer's date and time is running correctly, if not please adjust it and run a live update.

If that does not work, please download Norton intelligent updater from www.norton.com/iu and click on download definitions. Please select the first file if your computer is a 32 bit operating system or select the 4th file. Save it to your desktop. Once the download is complete, double click the downloaded file. It will update your Virus definitions.
If that also doesn't work, you need to reinstall the Norton program on your computer.
To reinstall, follow these steps:
>> download the latest version of the Norton program from the link www.norton.com/nis11
>> save the file to your desktop
>> Once the download is complete, double click the downloaded icon
>> it will remove the existing version while re-installing
>> Once the removal of the older version is complete, you will need to restart the computer
>> after the restart, please click on the downloaded file once more if it does not come up automatically
>> install the Norton program
>> activate the program with the product key
>> your issue will be fixed

Please check if the date and time on your computer is correct. The Norton program can't download and install updates if they are wrong.

If the issue is not getting fixed, try re-installing the Norton program

>> download the latest version of Norton 360 Premier edition from the link www.norton.com/n360p_5
>> save the file to your desktop
>> double click the downloaded icon
>> it will remove the existing version and restart your computer
>> after rebooting, it will install the latest version
>> your product key will be automatically updated
>> that's all folk, your issue will be fixed

I would agree that your PC could be virus infected. Your Norton could not detect the virus for 2 possible reasons; 1.) your Norton is not update or 2.) the virus is "unknown" even on the most recent Norton Antivirus.
If your Norton is not updated, you must download the update and your diagnostics once again. You may also try installing a second antivirus on your PC. I may recommend AVIRA as a second antivirus for its performance and it has a FREE version that you could readily install (http://www.avira.com/en/download/).

hi, this is common problem with norton. It must be showing live update failed. There is nothing wrong with norton ( u must have registered on the norton site). This problem is caused due to internet connectivity, you should have broadband connection, in order to download updates. The only cause is poor internet connectivity as updates are big in size to be downloaded, they need fast internet connection (especially in case of norton).

Or you can take it to the shop from here you have purchased norton, they will update in less than half an hour with a legitimate charge.

Might seem silly but easiest way out is to reinstall windows and do not use Norton find another anti virus etc.as you can spend hours trying to find a solution

if u have registered with norton...then u can update it from the website

Open your norton 360 and then updates by clicking upates menu. it will directly updates your norton to the symantec websites or you cam manually updates downloading the update here : dhttp://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-N95.html
After updating restart your system to automatically fixed some errors. If the system still same error just click the balloon on the taskbar and select "i have my antivirus (not probably same word)" something like that. if Finally same error encountered uninstall the norton 360 and again reinstall after rebooting and updates. don't worry about the alert, you know already that you are protected.
