Volume doesn't work

I had a friend, who has put in stereos before, try to put this in my 99' Jeep but the volume doesn't work for some reason. All the necessary wires are matched up properly and everything works except the volume. Worst case is I take it to be done professionally, hopefully, but I would like to save a bit of money. Thanks for the help!

In most chrysler product like jeep, they have amplifiers under the back seat. those will not work with an aftermarket radio. those have to be bypassed in order for you to get any sound out of your speakers. i have delt with that myself with the numerous jeeps i have owned.

SOURCE: wiring for a 99 jeep cherokee

On your vehicle there should be two male plugs from the back of the radio, one black and one gray. The simplest thing to do is get an after market harness but if you really need the wiring, here you go:

12V+ Pink/Yellow
Acc Red/White
Ground Black
Illumination (not really needed) Orange/Brown
Dimmer (also not needed) Black/Light Blue

Speakers:
FL + Dark Green
FL - Brown/Red
FR + Violet
FR - Dark Blue/Red
RL + Brown/Yellow
RL - Brown/Light Blue
RR + Darl Blue/White
RR - Dark Blue/Orange

Hi how can I work aux input.I did everything but doesn’t work.Thx

People, people, people. Okay there are many thousands of devices out there and they are all different. I need to know what brand and model stereo your talking about. Typically though the AUX on most stereo's is on the front face plate of the unit (some are on the back side of the unit though) consists of a 3.5mm (walkman style headphone type jack where you can plug your input device into your car stereo via a Male to Male 3.5mm stereo headphone cable. (avail at walmart, etc) Once you've done that you cue up your device and start playing it at half volume. Dont turn volume all the way up use stereo volume to dial it up. Dont want volume to max going into your stereo plus your stereos amp. It's possible distortion overload city there. Then on the stereo itself there should be a button for inputs you push that button until you select AUX and walla. Also some stereos in there settings they have a special selection for gain control for AUX which allows you to find that happy medium for the stereo to boost the music from AUX properly. Ideally it would be a line out (not volume controlled just a straight signal) but most devices only have headphone out which incorporates it's own little amplifier in there and too much volume aka signal current going into the amp is not good for it.

How can I hook my Sandisk Sansa Clip+ up to my stereo system if the stereo doesn't have a USB port?

Connect a audio from the headphone socket on the player and plug it into the AUX input on the stereo system. Set the stereo to AUX, turn on the player and adjust the volume level on the stereo.

When i use the volume button on the remote a yellow icon comes up and i cant change the volume, help please

You may have the FIXED VOLUME LEVEL feature enabled in the AUDIO OPTIONS section of your TV's menu. You should be able to disable it from that menu as well if necessary.

This feature is often used when you are sending the audio signal out the rear audio output connectors of the TV to a stereo or home theatre system amplifier. That way you hear the TV audio through the stereo's large speakers instead of the small TV speakers. Then to raise the volume of the TV audio, you simply adjusting the volume of the stereo with the stereo remote instead of using the TV remote.

If the channel selector does not work either, then it's possible that you may have the CHILD LOCK feature engaged. See you owner's manual for instructions on how to disable the CHILD LOCK.

Good luck, I hope this was helpful.

The cd player doesnt work any more

mute the volume on the stereo system by pushing the volume dial in, waiting a few seconds, then un-muting by pushing the volume dial in once again and you should begin to hear sound again

97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Stereo problem

If you still have audio but unable to turn the volume, there are 02 possible problem:
- the volume control is defected will not respond ( electronic volume control; need logic low/high to activate the audio )
- the front control PCB is broken ( can be fixed if there is a small cracked )
If no audio at all then most likely audio output IC defected
