Hi hoping you can help i think i have put onfo in wrong spot but anywho ... i have an acer aspire 3634wlmi .. with a philps dvd+rw sdvd8441 . before i reinstalled my pc recently the dvd burner would only read disks that had been burnt in the burner on the laptop. now i have reinstalled windows home. and the dvd player will now play any disk but is sometimes very chunky and now has trouble burning disks .. any help would be great thanks

Usally a sign that your backlight has gone as this would only happen if on battery power and on power saver mode otherwise.
if its anything other than windows 7 check your power management setting in control panel or just right click on the desktop and screensaver tab then power button.
