Question about Harman Kardon SIGNATURE 2.1 Amplifier

1 Answer

Amp problems Have owned this amplifier for 7 years and all of sudden it will not stay on. When switched on by the signature 2.0 preamp the amp will power up and come on for about 10 to 30 seconds and then switch off with the status led flashing amber to red and back. Owners manual says check for shorted speaker connection. Have checked all speakers several times and even disconnected them. Problem still occurs.

From the above symptom, it show that the output stage of the amplifier have some problem. The protection cct come in to cut off the amp. when the output shorted or have Dc voltage.( this is to prevent further damage to the amp. & speaker ).If you know how to repair , just check on the pwr transistor (with heat sink )or else send it to the repair center.hope it help.

NAD C320. Only one channel sounds. Problem with the volume control?

Did you try to switch the loudspeakers? Before changing anything always lover the volume and switch off the amplifier.
Assuming you tested already different inputs, you can be sure no cable from signal source is out or defect. (or did you nit check that first?).
When the amp is switched off, disconnect the speakers and switch left to right and right to the left output.. If the other speaker is quiet now, you are sure it is in the amp. Still his can be anything.
You can check the connections between the pre and main amplifier on the back side. When you have an extra set of interlink cables, perhaps you can cross the in and output there too. Take care every time you change something, lower the voltage and switch off the amplifier. Sudden clicks when switching on or changing anything can damage the amp and or the speakers.

Perhaps when you checked this you can locate where the problem is? Speaker, speaker cable, power amp, pre amp, (only a part of the pre amp.

Hi, I have a Marantz PM7200 KI Signature, This morning sadly realised that the amp is gone, There is no light on, something like no power. Firstly, I look for the fuse socket but there is no socket on...

hi,
First of all check the power at the socket to which you have connected the amp.If you are not aware of electronics, then do not go for a test with an amp like KI signature.
it will have a fuse in its inside. its only blow off if there is some fault inside the its circuitry. consult someone who is well equipped for the same.

I have a Harman Kardon Signature 2.1 amplifier that wont start. Its LED flashes red and yellow indicating that something is wrong. Does anyonehave any idea why?

I work on power amplifiers and I can offer a few suggestions
The flashing light means the amplifier is in "Protect" mode.
This could mean one of two things: 1. The speakers are not connected properly or, 2. There is a component failure in one of the output amp sections.
It might be as easy as a blown fuse in the circuit that powers one of the amp sections.
Not knowing your technical background , I can't say much more about opening the unit and checking for certain things

My amp suddenly stopped working last night. As

You have a bad amplifier section and your unit will need to be repaired by a technician. I would disconnect the speakers to prevent possible damage. In some cases components in line with the transistors will be bad in the amplifier also. There is no way to tell without electrically testing the unit in shop. Estimated repair cost would be in the 60 to 80 dollar range depending on the number of parts that are bad and the labor rate in your area.

Amplification

You need to now the RMS for a true capacity of your speakers and your amp.

I would say you are OK, with a margin, but if you turn the amp to max and blow the speakers, please dont call me.

Right loudspeaker problem

Doesnt sound like the selector as it "sometimes" works. Redo the speaker connections on the back of the amp and speakers first. If it persists, swop the speakers and cables, if the problem swops, then it could be inside the speaker or the cable, if still the same then amp has dry joints/loose connections probably

Probably not in the power amp. It's whatever youre plugging the MIC into.

Pyramid PA1000X Output Problem

You probably have some DC voltage leaking through to the output stage and the protection circuit is kicking in to shut it down. Look for a problem in the front end (pre-amp). If you are not familiar with electronics, expect a parts cost in the $30 range plus the local labor rate for repair.
