Question about MagLite - Mag Charger System 110v (M) Model - RX1019
I has the same problem with a 2D maglite. What cured it was to remove the lamp, depress the lamp holder fully and then put a spike (I used the point of a pair of compasses) behind the thin metal strip which runs down one side of the plastic "hole" that is revealed. Then using a pair of fine-nosed pliers bend the end metal strip toward the outside of the hole. This then pushes the contract strip against the lap holder and a better beam ensues. I also used a strip of clean plain paper to make sure that there was no dirt between the holder and the contact.
No guarantees for your problem but it worked for me.

I have a new 3 cell maglite and another one that is about 15 yrs old. WHen I loaded the new one and turned it on the beam was much brighter than the old one's. I put fresh batteries in the old light, and got the same weak beam. Then, I changed out the bulb, and got the same result. Any ideas?
