I have been using this Singer 2732 now for about 2years. I am dealing with the top tensioner not working properly. I had to adjust it about a month ago and now it will not loosen or tighten. It just lets the thread go through the washers and is so tight the thread just snaps. Any ideas as to what the problem is?
Also the timing never gets resolved it just keeps getting itself out of timing after alot of usage and am constantly having to adjust the timeing about every month. I have taken to repair shop who say all I can do with this model is keep readjusting and there will be a time when you can no longer adj. Has anyone heard of this and is it maybe time for a new model?

Hi, I hope this helps. It's kind of hard without pictures, but I'll do my best:
1)With the spool of thread affixed in it's normal spot, take the thread and wind it through that weird hooky thing (like normal) at the 'back' of the machine.
2)Then bring the thread towards the front of the machine and around the metal 'button' on the top of the machine. Do not loop around this, merely guide the thread on on the side closest to you, towards the right hand side of the machine.
3)Thread your bobbin.
4)Put the bobbin on the metal arm and push to the right (gently).
5)Push the 'button' in the hand wheel in so one end of it will pop out (this will stop the needle from going up & down while you're winding the bobbin)
6)Start pressing the foot pedal slowly and things should start to work.

When threading your needle make sure you pull enough thread through...a good 4 inches will do..hold the end of the thread and turn your hand wheel by hand until needle comes back up...you should have a loop around your upper thread ...pull this loop out towards you..you should now have two threads..cut threads till about 2 inches and make sure you position threads through the center of your sewing foot and towards the back of your machine. Good Luck

I went online and found a diagram that showed where the screw was to loosen or tighten the drop in bobbin thread (it faces the front) but it couldn't be seen until I slid the sliding door totally off. I had to use a flashlight and very small screwdriver and was able to loosen the screw a tiny bit and it solved my problem. I've been sewing for over 40 years and didn't know how to adjust the tension on a drop in bobbin until now. You learn something new everyday!
