When I try to scan, it reads "No Scan Options".

I have an HP Officejet Pro L7580 and it won't scan. All the connections are good and I just scanned something yesterday but today it won't.

I try using solution center but it says cannot scan, other computers are using the network. Tried turning off all other computers on network, still doesn't work.

I am fed up with HP all-in-ones. Last one had same problem.

Try scanning from the solution center. If successful, check the scan button settings if you can see applications available on the 'Destination List'. Add all the application to the right side. Close the solution center and try to scan.

I am trying to scan from a HP Officejet Pro L7580. I am a bit of a technophobe and the printer is telling me No Scan Options Refer to device documentation which I havn't got. PLEASE advise me on how to...

Hello Mr.Johnson !

You can start a scan from a computer or from the control panel.

To use the scan features, your device and computer must be connected and turned
on. The printer software must also be installed and running on your computer prior to
scanning. To verify that the printer software is running on a computer running
Windows, look for the device icon in the system tray at the lower-right side of the
screen, near the clock. To verify this on a computer using the Mac OS, open the HP
Device Manager, and click Scan Picture. If a scanner is available, it will launch the HP
ScanPro application. If it is not available, a message appears to let you know that a
scanner was not found

Here you will find a link that will take you to this printers service manual (device documentation) :

Looks like you have saved the method as 'default'. If you open HP Solution Center and go to "Settings" and then choose "Scan settings" you can figure out the details from there. At some point, you choose not to save this as default and ask it to prompt each time..

Scanner function will not work.error message--"no scan options". have reinstalled software plus downloaded software from hp website.

Cobbled together a MS scan option that works with the L7580. Not very seamless but I'm scanning, viewing, saving and emailing OK.
Still wish I could get the darn L7580 to work via the "scan" button!

hi! try this solution for your problem.tnx

Follow these steps to correct the problem:

  1. Open the HP Director/Solution Center software.
  2. Click Settings , click Scan Settings and Preferences , and then click Scan To....Setup . The Button Settings window will appear.
  3. The Destination List tab should be visible. The software will scan the computer and determine what scan capable programs are installed on the computer. These will be listed on the left side.
  4. Select a program you wish to scan to and then click Add to move it to the right side. Programs listed on the right will be available as scanning destinations when pressing the Scan button.

Getting error when trying to fax or scan

The L7580 is not meant to be set up as a scanning device on a network. This unit can only function properly as a USB connected device to have all the features work. Also, for the software to install with out problems, all other All in One software fro previous HP printers need to be removed. Once we did that and did clean install using USB only then did it work.
