Ensure the camera is not set for movie mode.
If the camera has a conversion lens setting in the menu, set it of OFF.
Reset the camera

as long as you have a menu button on your camera you should be able to control these functions.turn the camera on in auto or manual. hit menu soon as the camera comes on,now you should be allowed to make any chages you choose.hope this helped.good luck
Dear ACO107,
Please turn on Cyber-shot in camera mode and press Menu, select Mode, select Normal, OR got to Camera Mode Selection Button (top of camera near power button) and select Auto (Green Color) symbol. Problem would be solved.
Perhaps you have set the camera to a record mode other than Auto. Twilight mode for example, does not activate flash so as to set the camera on a tripod and shoot dark landscapes.
Check your camera record mode, and use auto or portrait mode, which they usually activate flash when there is not enough light.
