Could be loose connection where the two wires connect to the circuit board. The mic looks like a small silver canister with two wires leading from it. Resolder if you are handy with electronics. Oherwise replace with a like mic from Radio Shack. Take the old one with you.
I followed the instructions and it took 5-10 minutes to get it done. I am now talking on the phone and I can hear and be heard!!!! Take y our time and be carefule but it worked for me.
