Hi, we have a 51" Magnavox projection TV. It is almost 2 yrs old. The sound still works on it, but one day the screen just went blank and now there is no picture. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the problem? Or has anyone else had this issue with theirs? THANKS

Power boards are like time bombs. When it's time is up, it's up. Since it is 3 yrs old, I would buy a new tv. Most TV parts only last 3-5 years anyways. It did a good job.
here is my general post for the 51 inch you'll have to look at the link for the manual and check to see if you have the STK392-120 chips or somthing bigger in the 60"
51MP392H/17 you need 2 Convergence IC's STK392-120's (120's and 150's will work) of course order 2 of the same type I'm using replacement 150's they allow for a little higher heat and were cheaper ALSO you need to replace the 12 resistors with 6.8 ohm metal film resistors, make sure they are metal film! don’t skimp out here I did and then they blew and fried my IC's and I had to replace everything again!
What you need: (2) STK392-120 OR STK392-150 IC chips (12) 6.8 Ohm Metal Film resistors set of star screw drivers 15 watt pencil solder pencil, DO NOT use a high watt iron you will fry the surface mounted item. good leaded solder, and flux
Good Day;
On that model look for a small yellow cap, half the size of coin, dime. LOOK very closely and you will see a small burnt spot on the cap. The TV uses about 4 of them, they are 120/110 @ 2 kv. There are located in the high voltage circuit.
This the most common, it could be flyback or HV devider.
Good Luck and Day, big irish.
LET ME know.
I had the a similar issue. My TV broke - no sound and no video but the power light was still on.
I gave up and called in a repair tech.
He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes by replacing a bad IC chip. He informed me that this is a very common problem with the older Magnavox TV sets and that its typicaly the same chip that fails.
I spent over 300.00 for the repair. The parts cost less than 20.00.
To help others in the same boat I put together a how to guide and parts kit on www.magnavoxhelp.com . I'm not sure if it will work for you but it may be worth a shot.
picture and sound went away...can hear a chirp sound about once a second..
