Freezer compressor runs steady & getting -30F

Alarm was going off one morning. Quick freeze button was on. Turned off alarm. Put thermometer in freezer. Reading -30F. Compressor hasnt shut off. Can turn dial to off and the compressor shuts off. Set back to normal and the compressor never shuts off. Temperature drops to -30F again. Cleaned out frozen drain. Turned it back on. But no change and the compressor runs steady. AS IF THE QUICK FREEZE IS STUCK ON. Is there any way of disengaging QUICK Freeze? Freezer is a 2002 Kenmore upright... Model 253....

Any help would help!

Thanks for the help.. but I solved the problem. Called Sears for a service call. When they called back I described the problem to the girl who in turn repeated it to the technician. He said "no use comming out till we ave the part" I said "what part?" She said the "Quick freeze circuit board" Oh, ok!

Having dealt with module in the computer industry... I went and unplugged the freezer from the wall. 3 hours later... plugged back in and been working ever since... perfectly!

    Just needed to be reset.

Thanks again and I hope this helps some one else..

You probably have a defective thermostat or sensor for reading the temperature.

Or as you suspect a quick freeze problem because the switch is stuck in the on postion.

If you do not react quickly your compressor will overheat and may fail.

Replacing the thermostat and quick freeze switch is much cheaper than replacing the compressor if you delay.

My freezer has a different code number;ZFT710FW.I put quite a lot of food into the freezer yesterday and the alarm now keeps sounding,I have put the temperature up but the red light is still flashing...

Red Alarm Indicator Light
Under normal operating conditions, the internal temperature of the freezer will ensure the long-term conservation of the stored food. When such temperature rises above a certain level (-12 °C), the appliance will trigger an acoustic and light alarm. The light alarm is a blink red light (Red Alarm Indicator Light), while the acoustic alarm is an intermittent sound.
You can stop the acoustic alarm by pressing the Acoustic Signal Stop Switch once.

When switching on the freezer for the first time, the Red Alarm Indicator Light will blink until the internal temperature has reached a level required for the safe conservation of frozen food.

Fast Freeze function
If more than 3-4 kg of food is to be frozen:
1. Press the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds to activate the fast-freeze function 6-24 hours before placing the fresh food in the freezer, the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator Light will illuminate. The compressor will now run continuously, to ensure that the fresh food is frozen as quickly as possible.
2. It is possible to deactivate the function at any time by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2-3 seconds.
3. Place the foods in the freezing compartments (indicated with graphics).
4. Once the food is completely frozen (it may take up to 24 hours) you can manually switch off the fastfreeze function by pressing the Fast Freeze Switch for 2- 3 seconds and the Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.
5. Move frozen food from the freezing compartments into the other compartments (storing compartments) to make room for another freezing.

If the Fast Freeze Switch is accidentally left on, the fast-freeze function will be automatically switched off 48 hours later. The Yellow Fast Freeze Indicator light will also go out.

I believe that you all understand. If you intend to freeze larger amount of food then certainly a few hours before some shopping switch on the fast freeze function.

I can't turn my Kenmore upright freezer on.

Try disconnecting power for about 30 seconds, and then restore power. This will reboot the control and maybe restart.

Zanussi fridge freezer alarm keeps sounding

If the refrigerator and freezer are both working properly. Then the only problem would be the alarm, It's either the placement of the alarm thermometer or the alarm thermometer is stuck closed.

Temp Alarm going off, when freezer seems to be cooling fine.

You need to check the temp in the freezer to make sure it's down to around 10 degrees. The alarm will go off much above that.

Won't freeze

Is the compressor running the whole time? If so may have a problem with a refridgerant leak....check the compressor in the rear of unit, feel if its hot....may be as simple as a relay.

The alarm keeps going off. Food is frozen fine just alarm

That alarm is there for a reason. Grab your owner's manual and see the different things it can mean. If the gas is getting low, that could be it, and you'll want to solve it as early as you can.

Sometimes a power surge or brown out can make that alarm go off. Try unplugging it for 5 minutes.
