Pro-2051 No Receive Audio

Hi,
I have a Pro 2051 scanner it beeps when I turn it on and goes into scan but their is no audio when it stops on a channel. I programmed in the wheather channel (162.400 in my area) and still no audio. Any one have a solution? Any one know if a service manual is availible for this model?

Thanks

William

Thanks for the suggestion, but when you turn on the radio it beeps nice and load, I did try plugging in bothe an external speaker and headphones but neither solved the problem. The radio had a trunking system programmed in it and does go into id scan so it is finding the control channel and does stop on an id when sombody is talking ( had another radio running beside this one) but no audio comes out. When I programme in the weather channel and hit scan the radio stops on the channel programmed with the weather but again no audio.

Try headphones to see if the preamp stage is working, if headphones work then it has to be either the audio amp or speaker. It could also be settings such as being in the am mode instead of fm if it has a key marked mode press that.

to reset the 2051 turn the unit off, hold down 2,9,and hold buttons while turning the unit back on,in about 2 or 3 seconds clear appears on the display, turn the unit off again and hold down 3 and E buttons while turning scanner on again.

Can I manually input the same frequencies from my pro 97 to a pro 2051 and receive the same audio as my 97? I know it would be time consumming, but can I do it? Thanks!

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is yes. The PRO-97 and 2051 cover the same frequencies and the same trunking systems, so you can program the same information into both. There is, however, no cloning capability between the two, so all programming will have to be done manually. Once it's done there is no way to synchronize the two units, so the chances of both receiving the same signal at the same time are remote.

I hope this answers your question.

It just scans and scans it never picks anything up. No clue how to work this scanner or where to get codes for it. When you turn it on, it just scans thru all the channels but doesn't seem to pick anything...

Sounds like either your squelch is set too high or you don't have the proper frequencies for your area programmed into the scanner. When it starts scanning turn the squelch down gradually until the scanning stops and you hear noise, then turn up slowly until it starts to scan again. If you still don't pick up anything, you probably need to reprogram the frequencies. For a list of active frequencies and systems in your area visit

In case you need it, here's a link to the manual for your scanner.

Radio Shack (Realistic) PRO-2020 Scanner stuck in Scan Mode

Sounds like old age - the 2020 is nearly 30 years old! Have you tried just using the LOCKOUT feature on all channels except the you want? How about just programming the same frequency into all 20 channels?

Pro-94 no rec

First guess is to check your antenna. Better yet, do a quick swap with someone and try their antenna. If that does not change it, then check to see if the attenuator is turned on, and take it off. Recheck your settings by the book. Hope this helps,, Mechanic
