Installing scanner drivers

Just bought a new PC which has windows vista which wont reconise my PrimeFilm PF 3600Pro scanner drivers when I try to install them from the software disc. Eny solusions? Toni.

sorry folks Iam afraid the drivers would not talk to the scanner. One off my friends found a site that said the scanner (unfortunatly that pasific model is not compatable with vista,but I will keep trying sorry for not getting back with the result.

Purchased one of these off EBay. Came without software disk but I down loaded it from oem site www.scanace.com. This software will not properly install the drivers on my system. Scanner appears to be in good condition and is recognized by XP when plugged in and switched on. If I run the software installer it runs and reports the drivers successfully installed, but device manager reports no drivers installed on on the scanner entry. Found something called 'update.exe' which was supposed to fix this but it makes no difference. Scanner software unsurprisingly then fails to initialize scanner. Any ideas?

I have a PF3600 PRO that I used for several years without problems. I am installing it on another machine XP Pro SP3 using the latest driver from the manufacturer's driver site. I also found the UPDATE file. Windows will not recognize the driver.

Scanners are often not supported when a new operating system comes along.

The simplest solution would be to run an old computer with the correct drivers for the scanner, I'm afraid. You can probably get an old computer for around £30.00, which is far cheaper than buying a new film scanner.

PrimeFilm 1800u will not work on Windows 8.
Here is the response I received from the company for the question:

Where can I get drivers for windows 8? Windows 7 drivers are not working on Windows 8.

Response:

Hello, This scanner will not be supported on windows 8, all of our USB 1.0 technology scanner will no longer be supported beyond Windows 7.

Trying to download a driver for primefilm 1800u

The drivers it needs are in Windows\system32\drivers and include usbscan.sys and 2 others. I discovered that I had to run the device troubleshooter until it came across the single image scanner, I let it install drivers and then it worked with the primefilm software. That took hours, but the solution was to let Windows 7 64 bit do a troubleshoot on the hardware.

I have managed to install my primefilm 1800u slide scanner on my windows 7 laptop but cannot get it to scan as I do not seem to have the twain interface

You did not tell us what you installed... but the latest software you can find here.
It's also for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Trying to use PrimeFilm 1800U scanner on my Dell PC (with Vista), but when running supplied Presto ImageFolio (Mr. Photo) CD, the following message appears: 'String MSG_OS was not found in string table'....

Uninstall Presto Mr Photo, image folio & Cyberview, all of which are not Vista compatible. Obtain new scanner drivers from http://www.scanace.com/en/download.php. Also, can use any image editor once scanning complete. Google provide free application called Picasa at www.picasa.google.com.

Computer can't communicate with scanner.

Go to START menu click on devices and printer, then locate and click on add device, and follow the instructions.

Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.

Has anyone had an issue with the PF3600 Windows 7 drivers - I can scan negatives but not slides (as positives) although the equipment will scan a slide as a negative os it looks like a software issue. The W7 drivers have not been tested by Pacific Image.

My Mac and PrimeFlim 3600 Won't acknowledge each other. We have used the PrimeFlim once before and it worked just fine. Then a couple weeks ago i got a bunch of new slides from some relatives. Initially I couldn't find the cord to plug it into the computer, but I found a basic cable that should do the job. But the CyberViewS_XF program wasn't finding it. Then I deleted the CyberVeiw and I redownloaded it from: http://www.scanace.com/download/Cyb_X_SF.htm and it seemed to be working until it still wouldn't find my PrimeFlim 3600. And that is my problem. Thanks.
