How do I change a stat table to provide a value and frequency?

Apparently there is a way to change the L2 column on a stat table to a frequency value--for example, if you put "5" in L1 and "7" in L2, your Vars stats would account for 7 different 5's.

SOURCE: L2 disappeared

Here's what you do in a TI-83 or TI-84:

Go to STAT > 1: Edit > UP ARROW > 2ND > INS > *List Name* > ENTER

Hope that helps!

SOURCE: in my stat function, instead of L1, L2 and L3

Press Stat. Choose "set up editor" from this menu. You will be returned to the home screen. Press enter and you'll get the message "done". This should fix the problem.

SOURCE: [Stat] - Data numbers (frequency) < 1 (not integer) on TI 85 Calc

Frequencies are always integers. They indicate how many times that particular data value came up. The data values may be non-integers.

As an example, let's say you're measuring the weights of widgets. You may have 3 widgets weighing 1.1 kg, 5 widgets weighing 1.2 kg, and 2 widgets weighing 1.3 kg.

Note that the data are non-integers (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) but the frequencies are integers (3, 5, 2).

SOURCE: Lost L2 on the stat edit function

Go into the STAT:EDIT function and Highlight L3. Push 2nd DEL (INSERT), and Put L2 back in. If there was data in List 2, it should reappear.

I am working on relative frequency table and I get the following message: ERROR: DATA TYPE 1:Quit 2: Goto

It sounds like the problem may be caused by trying to store a matrix to a list variable.
A relative frequency table is typically created by taking a set of data and counting the number of times each value appears in the data. This count is then divided by the total number of data points to give the relative frequency of each value.
It is likely that L1, L2, L3, and L4 are lists that contain your data, and you are trying to use them to create a relative frequency table. However, it appears that L4 may contain a matrix, which is causing an error because matrices and lists have different data types and cannot be used interchangeably.
To fix this, you will need to identify where the matrix is coming from and convert it to a list, or use a different variable that is a list. Additionally, you can check the data types of your variables by using a function like type() or class() before you create the relative frequency table.
If you are still facing issues, you can share your code and dataset or specific steps you are following to create the relative frequency table, then I can help you to identify and fix the problem.

I need to enter two columns of,values, x and y, to determine the linear equation but my table, only, displays the x column. How do,I get the y column back to enter numbers in?

Use the STAT function
Press STAT>EDIT >1:EDIT
Enter independent x_variable in L1, and y-variable in L2
To do calculations, Look under CALC (see 3rd screen capture).

Error stat

Are the data in L1 and l2 in any way related? If they are (being x-values and y-values of some data set) then you need to do regression analysis (2-var stats)
If they are not related (connected) you can calculate the mean of each group separately.
Do 1-var stat by specifying the L1 list first (may be the default), get your average of the values in L1. Then you can do 1-var stat on the data in L2 by specifying the list L2 on the command line.
1-var L2 ENTER
Note: What I am describing here is valid for the TI 83 Plus/TI84 Plus, but I suspect the steps are similar to the TI 82.

Construct both an ungrouped and a grouped frequency distribution for the data given below: 139 130 128 134 140 139 136 130 136 128 138 137 134 128 127 136 140 132 141

Sorry to disappoint you but I will just give you directions to do it yourself.
Ungrouped
First sort the data in ascending order (from lowest to highest value)
Create a two-column table
In the first column enter a data value.
In the second column enter the frequency of a data item
Count how many times one particular data value appears in the set (how many repetitions). If it appears only once, its frequency is 1; twice, frequency 2, etc.
For each single (different) data value complete the frequency column.

Grouped
For grouped data representations you create classes: A class is just an interval of values, for example between [125, 130[
For each class interval you create, count how many data values fall within the interval. For the class given as example it will encompass all values between 125 and 129, It I counted correctly its frequency is 4.
Complete the frequency table for the class.

How many classes should you create? Usually this information is given to you. If not, create a moderate number of classes (4,5) It depends on the span of the distribution (highest value- lowest value). The intervals should have equal length. Read your instructions.

My TI-84 plus silver edition doesnt allow me to use the comma when using the 1-Var Stats button.. I can't use more then one list and I need the mean of both lists

Pay attention to the name: 1-var statistics mean you have ONLY one list of data. So you cannot use two. However if some data values are repeated you may choose to create a FREQuency list. So at most you have two list, one for the data values and the second for their frequency.
When you use the 1-var stat, specify the list that holds the data value (Xlist) and one the FREQ line specify the list that has the frequency

If your data values are in L1 and L2 or any pair of lists, then you should do 2-var stats. You will get the stats of both lists, you can also perform regressions, etc.

I am curently taking Statistics and when I hit "stat" then enter information into the L1, L2 , L3 area etc then I go to stat again and press calc and choose option 1 then in the list area I need...

I have followed your description and entered bogus data in Lists L1, L2, and L3.
I hit STAT then CALC then Option 1, which is 1-Var Stats. In this context you have only one set of data. If the data set contains many repeated values you can enter the frequency for each (repeated) data item in List L2, inserting 1 if an item is not repeated.
Thus when you do 1-Var Statistics you have at most two Lists (L1 contains the data values, and L2 their frequencies).
If you press the 1-Var Stats calculation option, the calculator takes L1 as the default data list so you see List:L1 and the ALPHA cursor blinking
On the secoond line you see Frequency: and nothing else on the line.
On the third line you have Calculate.
If Your data is not in L1, you can change that by pressing the [2nd][2] (L2), or [2nd][3] (L3). Only one list is specified there, so no need for the comma to separate. (you are doing 1-var Stat).

If your frequency data is in L2 you must specify it on the line Frequency. However, since the ALPHA keyboard is activated you must deactivate it first by pressing the ALPHA key. After that press [2nd][2] to select L2 or [2nd][3] to specify L3
If there is no frequency list, leave the Line frequency empty.

I went to my table the other day, and accidentally deleted the Y column, do you know what I can do to get it back? thanks for your time.

The table corresponds to the values of a certain function you entered through the Y= Editor. Reenter the function as Y1= and the Y column will be regenerated.
If you are dealing with paired data ( statistical values) enter one variable in list L1 and the other in List L2 and use the statistical feature to draw a scatter plot or perform other data processing.

How do you get the table ([2ND GRAPH]) from the [STAT] [EDIT] [L1] [L2] list to appear with [Y1] in the second the column? The information appears in the scatter plot, but the information in the table does...

Instead of hitting the [table] button. You should hit the [stat] or [stats] button as I forget which it is. Then hit [enter] which will bring you to a stats list editor of some kind. You will want to enter the data for your x-axis in L1 and the data for your y-axis in L2. Once you have completed your lists, hit the [stat] button again and then click [right] or the right arrow in order to move to the section of calc. from number 4 down it will help create a graph of that type of function. lets say you think it is linear, so you hit [enter] on number 4 and then you will be at the home screen with LinReg already written. You just have to complete the statement and it will do it for you. hit the [2nd] [1] and then the comma button, then [2nd] [2] and [enter]. that will do it for you.

Here goes if you still need this...

STAT, EDIT, put information into L1 if only one variable stats, but put info into L1 and L2 if it is frequency table stats.

Then choose Stat, over to CALC, 1, enter...if 1 variable stats then press enter again. If frequency table stats, then choose STAT, over to CALC, 1, 2nd, 1 [L!], 2nd, 2 [L2], enter.
