Mouse V450 shipped with new Dell Desk top does not work reliably

My new Dell Inspiron Desk top computer was shipped with a Logitech V450 mouse (I aksed for a quality cordless mouse). But it does not work reliably, as though it can't send a signal to that USB plug in in the back of the CPU which sits under my desk. The other cordless mice I've used with desk tops came with an antenna sort of thing that sat on top of the desk. Shoul this have that? If so why didn't Dell know that? Can I get just the antenna?

Thanks for your reply,

Yvonne Ashmore

It should be good up to 30 feet, whatever the setup. You might try plugging the send/receiver into a front port to see if that helps.

I usually open Device Manager, open each USB device and set the power to stay on, (not "turn off this device to save power"). That way, sleep mode won't cause you to lose contact with the mouse. Or just disable sleep mode.

SOURCE: Logitech cordless desk top MX3000

Hi: Just got off the phone with a Jason at Logitech Customer Service. The "locked" keyboard after battery replacement is a known error/bug with the MX 3200 and 1 other keyboard they make. The solution is very easy (amazing). If you have NOT installed the Logitech Setpoint software that manages all the extra buttons on the keyboard,
Do This:
Press "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "F12",
Then the "Connect" button on the USB RECEIVER,
Then press the red "Connect" button on the back of the keyboard,
Then Press "esc"
That will do it.
The keyboard goes into the encrypted mode with battery change. Perhaps changing batteries one at a time, like they suggest to keep the LCD settings will avoid this?

If you have already installed the Setpoint Software, then pressing Ctrl, Alt, F12 will pop-up a box asking if you want to come out of encryption mode, I'm told.

Good luck,

Rob

SOURCE: Logitech cordless mouse

That's a hoot, they're on the same frequency. If Logitech can't get you one on a different frequency, try moving your receivers as far apart from each other as possible. A USB extension should not hamper function, try it.

SOURCE: how to connect cordless mouse and cordless key

Make sure you have fresh batteries in the mouse and keyboard:

Plug your transmitter unit into an USB port, push the connect button on the TX, then push in on the connect button on the mouse and the keyboard. Also, install the cd that came with the KB/Mouse, to gain access to the features.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holy days!

Thanks, Joe

If you have tried it on another computer and its still failing then sorry but most likely the mouse is stuffed. Buy a new one. Go for Logitech, its the best brand for reliability.

Poor battery life with Logitech V450 cordless mouse

The problem is likely in the software (drivers), assuming that you are using quality batteries (those manufacturer's specs are based on top-shelf, fresh-off-the-truck alkaline batteries).

When you replaced the first set of batteries, the absence of a mouse caused the receiver to search, and having found none, it's common for the driver to reset to default settings.

The Logitech driver is the first suspect; go to Control Panel, Logitech Mouse...Driver Properties... Look for the "Auto-off" setting, and change it to 10-30 mins (or the lowest setting you can live with)...What you're looking for is the driver that has reverted to "never" in the auto-off setting...and if that isn't changed here, then it was Windows.
You'll have to tunnel a bit to get to this one, but it's not as hard as it looks.

The second suspect is the Windows driver; For Win XP, from the Control Panel, go to "Mouse"...or for Win-7 go to Control Panel- Devices and Printers, Hardware- and choose "Mouse" from the text links.

From the new menu, choose the "hardware" tab, and the "Properties" button near the bottom.
The new menu page has a text area that states "This device is working properly", and under that is a button labeled "Change Settings"...Click it.
Click the radio button labeled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"...and you're done.

Click the "OK" buttons to close the menu sets.

I have Logitech software for my old laptop - Dell XP. My new laptop has Vista 64 Bit. How can I adjust my Logitech V450 Laser Corless Mouse? julie

Go to http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/428/4335&cl=us,en?softwareid=671&osid=13. Select the vista 64 bit version of setPoint. Download and install. Also, altering the mouse properties in the Vista control panel can let you adjust the mouse.

The mouse does not work

Change the batteries. If still a problem, try the mouse on another workstation. If it still doesn't work, it will confirm that the mouse or USB receiver is faulty.

I want to download an instruction manual for my V450 Laser Mouse

Logitech no longer ships manuals with their products. You will find a PDF version of the QuickStart Guide that is included in the packaging with the product. In order to view the QuickStart Guide, you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. Once you have installed Acrobat Reader, you will then need to execute the following steps in order to download and view the QuickStart Guide:
1) Open browser

2) Go to this link:
http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/popup_adp.php?p_sid=_h7Uv2tj&p_lva=&p_li=&p_faqid=5173&p_created=1153350122&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD0xMDQsMTA0JnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PVY0NTAgTmFubyBDb3JkbGVzcyBMYXNlciBNb3VzZSBmb3IgTm90ZWJvb2tz

3) Right-click on the attachment in the file attachment section of the website (V450 Laser Cordless Mouse for Notebooks.pdf), and select [Save target as...]
2) Save the file to the desktop for access later. Once you have downloaded it, double-click on the file to open it.
