Need working Windows 7 driver for Linksys WUSB54G V.1.0 Adapter

I am trying to install my Linksys WUSB54G v.1.0 USB adapter on a freshly installed Windows 7 Build 5057 x64. Windows will not recognize the device, and the Windows XP drivers will not work. The problem is mainly that it does not appear that Linksys even has a 64 bit version of the driver for XP or even Vista. I'm sure it is probably time to get a new wireless adapter, but this thing has worked great forever, and funds are low right now.

Please help! :)

Thanks!

OK, any idea where I might be able to locate a Vista 64 bit driver then?

Thanks, I will give it a try.

    that link didn't work

I doubt there are any Windows 7 drivers out right now. However any Vista driver should work with that device as Windows 7 is simply an expensive service-pack.

This driver should work with Vista, and based on the FAQ it should work with 64-bit although it wasn't designed for the 64-bit OS.

If the link doesn't work, let me know. I'll direct you to the download page to retrieve the driver.

SIIG (JU-P50212) USB 2.0 Network Adapter

If you did a fresh install of Windows 7, make sure you install Windows 7 SP1.

A lot of Windows 7 drivers were not included in the original release.

The manufacturer does not list a specific driver for this card( although it does list it as being Windows 7 compatable) so likely you will find it by updating Windows 7.

I have just bought a new computer and i am trying to install my linksys adapter to my new computer. it worked fine on the old 1, but is not working on the new 1. I am wondering what could be some problems

The WUSB54GSC adapter had been out of production for a while...the last driver update was for Windows XP in 2008 (for Version 2 devices). You should carefully examine the device to see if it is Version 1 or Version 2, as this is necessary when visiting the driver page.

If you're trying to use the adapter on a Windows 7 machine, and Windows 7 does not automatically install the driver, then you're pretty much out of luck as Linksys does not supply a Windows 7 driver for this unit. They don't list a Vista driver, either, although often XP drivers will transfer to Vista without difficulty.

So...if you're trying to install it on a Vista machine, try downloading/installing the XP driver for your device version...it MAY work. If that does not work, or if it's a Win 7 machine, time for a new adapter.

Most new computers these days (at least laptops) have wireless built-in and don't need a USB adapter. I'm assuming, therefore, that you're using this on a desktop. If so, and you need a new one, very good quality ones can be had at WalMart for around $20. Just be sure whatever you buy is compatible to your operating system. It will be printed on the packaging.

Hope that's helpful.

You may also have to use the home network connection wizard if you havent previously to share documents over your network.
