Question about Lexmark JetPrinter X1185 All-In-One InkJet

I purchase a compaq comp with window vista and i installed my lexmark printer but it do not recognized , i'm trying to download it from the web but no result on this can u help?

Here is the link to the VISTA driver that you need.If you continue to have problems download it for someone else's computer and put it on a disk,cd or flash drive.

You can do to Printers in the Vista Control Panel and click on Add Printer. Wait for Vista to recognize your printer and install the driver when prompted.

You can also check if it is already installed in the Printers page. If it is, right click and go to Properties, and then print a test page from the bottom of the screen.

We have windows vista and when we tried to install compac IJ300 it only goes up to windows 98 - can we install that using vista???
I found this solution on another website, I suggest you give it a try.

Everything works fine since I installed Vista except for my printer a Compaq IJ300 which is a Lexmark Z11 in disguise. I installed the driver for the regular Z11 through the "Add Printer " but had problems.

Went to Lexmark site - downloaded drivers for Z11 Series ColorFine- working perfectly. So far I have no other problems with vista.

The link above is the driver for that printer. Download that driver and then install it. Once you install it, the computer should recognize it.

Try setting the Lexmark printer as default printer in control panel>>printers.

If you have not installed printer software for your Lexmark, then you need to install software first.
In this case see the following:

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Click here:Official Lexmark Drivers and Software

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file,double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
  • Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.
Note:some printerdoes not work on Vista, if you do not find any driver download for Vista on your model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.

The lexmark site has the drivers! I had the same problem, just go to their support page, and download the drivers/software.

Drivers for lexmark x1240
In order for your lemark printer to work on your vista computer I was told that you have to got to lemark and download vista printer drivers. I also have a vista computer which I just got so I need to install driver for it to work with my lexmark all in one. Try this and see what happens.

Hi, What exactly happens when you plug in the USB cable into laptop and turn on the printer? Does any window pop up that says "New hardware found?" Or if you check in the device manager list, is there a yellow question mark in there anwhere. To check for this question mark, -Right click on My Computer -Select Hardware -Click on Device Manager In this window is where the yellow question mark would be. If there is one, this means that your laptop does recognize the printer but have not installed the driver cd as yet. However, the CD that comes with the printer is not for Windows Vista. To get the drivers for vista you have to go to the drivers and downloads page of http://www.lexmark.com website and download the vista driver. If none of the above happens and this does not work then it might be another problem. Let me know what happens. Lolita
