I have the above mentioned tv that we purchased in Jan. 2006. In June of 2007 the screen went blank. I had a tv repair person replace the light wheel (it took 45 days). Now the tv "hums" when it is on. It sounds like a fan motor is running. We did not have the noise before it was sent to be repaired. What do you suppose is the problem?

Hi, If you have problem with video only then the back light inverter board of your tv is faulty. You didn't mentioned any thing else. Is there is sound or not. If sound is ok then the back light inverter is faulty. There is no repair possible with the back light inverter board. You have to replace the bosrd with a new one. As you didn't mentioned the model number of your tv, it is not possible to sent you any deatiles like where you will get the inverter board and its cost. Try to add full discription of the complaint and the model number of the TV.
Anyway check the link bellow to see how the back light inverter board looks like.
You will need to write down your SERIAL number from your model/serial tag. Example: 15114672UY...... UY is the date code. First letter is the year, second letter-month.

It just happened to me on 4/7/10. My vizio p50hdm made a popped noise & did not turn on. I purchased the tv at costco on June 2005 w/amex card. I pulled my amex statements from 2005 then called costco with my member # and they found the transaction. If you purchased the tv before 4/2007 the item is grandfathered with the 100% customer garrantee. After 4/2007 the return policy changed to 90 day money back return 2 year warranty and you get an additional year if you purchase w/amex card for a total of 3 years. Be very nice to the Costco people even if they give you an attitude on the return of tv. I got a credit for $2200. I just purchased a samsung led tv 46 series6 back lit & internet. Amazing Technology. & I Love Costco
If you have little experience of TV repair then take off back cover of Sony Kv-27FS210 and find Screen Control Knob on flyback transformer, turn that knob slightly CW or CCW and turn on TV to get picture. I think you need to turn ON TV few times to get proper adjustement of screen volts.
Above said procedure is for non-tech person. (Tech person will adjust screen volts (G2) as per procedure mentioned in service manual with proper tools.)
If your TV was manufactured by LG. Red and green flashes could be caused by the CTRL module. The way to tell is to remove the back and look at the boards. the initials LG will be stamped somewhere. The CTRL board is located left of center( viewing from rear) between the power and Y sustain boards. The board has several green LED`s that light up. The cure is a firmware update. However they make no provision such as a USB or CF slot for updates. Therefore a board replacement is necessary. By the way, I believe Sears has a motto " SATISFACTION GARANTEED" Hold them to it. If you go plasma go Panasonic and you wont have near as many problems. Good luck!
