Before I go into your solution I have to mention a few things first. Your printer software utility has multifunction printing capabilities. What I mean is you can print on thin paper , thick paper , and even glossy paper. I would go into your settings for your printer specifically for pictures or graphics and see what the paper thickness size is set for. Compair this to your setting for normal text printing and change your picture and graphics settings so it matches your text printing. I would also check on your printer some have a flip switch to set the printing head height. If it is selected low this could also cause scratching.

Horizontal pink lines on print every inch or so.

Do the magenta lines go outside the picture into the white border? If so, the print head has gone bad, and the cost to replace a print head is more than a new printer.

C5800 printing vertical lines through pictures

The thin lines are caused by a worn out drum. Remove each drum in turn and look at the surface. It maybe hard to see the scratches and if so then send solid blocks of the primary colours one at a time and that will prove which drum is at fault.

My printer prints blurrey out of focus pictures. I download from my camera and print a few on photogaph paper. This happened once before and for reasons that evade me it cleared up and printed fine. ...

Before replacing this awesome printer try this steps first.

First check the paper you're using, load the paper with the printing side down.

In the program being used for printing, click File , and then click Print .

Make sure the appropriate printer is selected, and then click Preferences or Properties.

Click the Printing Shortcuts tab. Consider modifying some or all of the options in the Printing Shortcuts menu to increase print quality.

Print quality : If the quality of the printouts is not acceptable, try increasing the print quality. To print more quickly, try decreasing the print quality.

Paper type : If one of the options matches the paper type exactly, select it instead of Automatic .

Paper size : Make sure that this option matches the paper loaded in the product.

Make sure that the image file has enough resolution for the size of the printed picture. Although many photo applications can enlarge an image or part of an image to any size, eventually the individual pixels become visible and the whole image looks blurry.

Kodak 5300 all in one printer

Have you checked the ink level?
And does this happen only when you are tying to print a B&W only? Or if you print a color picture, does it print any black in the pictures?

maybe too one of your pictures is bigger than the paper so your printer is trying to finish very big job. either way powering off printer and deleteing jobs in driver then power on printer will enable next job to be sent

The printer may not be scratching your printout but you may have a clogged printhead. A clogged printhead will constantly miss a spot creating an effect of a scratch printout. Please run an all inks printhead cleaning routine (2 or 3 times) and create a test page. Best Regards
