Acer 5002WLMi dies when downloading large files or video

Hello, My Acer runs fine normally until I try to download a large file or watch a video online (like the Netflix movies). I have a small network at home and I don't have the problem on my other computer.

The problem occurs when I try to play a video steam. I have attempted to play videos from youtube or Netflix and they seem to just lock up and shut down my computer.
I can download large files without a problem though.
    Any ideas?

This laptop turns its self off without warning, usually when trying to
process graphic intensive programmes such as internet live streaming,
games or java based programmes. I have had the power pack replaced but
problem remains. Is this an overheating hardware issue or software
    crash? Any suggestions?

Youtube is a big problem for my computer. So is making a movie with Windows Movie Maker. Even the video ads on the sides of web pages make hot air blow out the side. There's about three levels of hot air...softly blowing, then to blowing, then to blowing hard, then it clicks and shuts off. Mine doesn't freeze, though. Now, just doing anything will make it start to blow. Most of the time even ripping a cd onto my computer is too much for it, and it shuts off.

Have you tried to save video to the laptop and then play the video? Or putting a DVD in and playing it? I am trying to eliminate RAM as being an issue.

Can't Download A Large File from Canon A560 Digital Camera

Get a card reader. The one pictured below is $13 at Walmart. Create a folder on your desktop. Insert your card into the card reader and the other end into a USB port on your computer. Drag and drop the video file into the folder you created. b957eb4.jpg

What video driver do you use in Acer Aspire SA80 with SiS FX/GX Mirage Graphics

The SiS driver that Acer offers for the Aspire SA80,

http://support.acer.com/drivers_download.aspx

On this page under,

A) Select Product Family
Left-click on Desktop

B) Select Product Line
Left-click on Aspire

C) Select Product Model
Scroll the side bar down, Left-click on Aspire SA80

There are Three VGA drivers listed. You won't see the 3rd one, SiS, until you scroll the side bar down.

VGA SIS VGA Driver 6.14.10.3680
14.6MB 2008/12/10

Left-click on the orange square to the left of this driver file name.
(Has a white down arrow pointing to a line)

A small window will come up.
Opening VGA_SIS_6.14.10.3680_Xpx86.zip

Left-click on the empty circle to the left of - Save File
(If it does not already have a green dot in it)

Now go below, and click on OK.

I suggest you save the file, instead of opening it directly. It is a Zip file, and you may not have an Unzip program on your computer, to 'Unzip' it.

(Zip file is a condensed file. Used to send large files over the internet. You have to un-condense the file, or Unzip it)

If you do not have an unzip program I suggest download 7-Zip. It's free.

Go to the place the Zip file downloaded to.
Either My Documents, or on your desktop screen.
(Start>My Documents. Could also be in a sub-folder of My Documents>Downloads)

Double-click on the file name. (Be sure you have an Unzip program installed before you do)

Follow the simple instructions of the unzip program.

How do i change recording format to avi as i cant upload any of my videos to my friends becuse video size is to large

Did you try using an online file sharing service? You can upload (large) files, get the link and email that to friends. They can then download the file.
There are services that offer GB's of space, so the file would not be too big quickly....

Just search for "online file sharing"

Acer Aspire 5002WLMi overheating

Hello

Ok, here is a link for the manual for this device. Just click on the link, once at the site, click get manual.

http://www.retrevo.com/s/Acer-5002-Laptops-review-manual/id/22993bh343/t/1-2/

As far as the overheating goes. Are you sure that this is a overheating problem?? Have you tried formatting the laptop and reinstalling windows? Also if you are sure that this is an overheating problem, have you checked the CPU to see if there is some thermal paste on it?

Hope this can steer you in the right direction.

Kind regards
Andrea

.swf files don't run

Hello,

.swf files are Flash files and are played by the Adobe Flash Player. If you currently have the Adobe Flash Player installed, try going to Start --> Control Panel and clicking on Add/Remove Programs. When the screen loads click on Adobe Flash Player and click Uninstall. Finally restart your computer.

When the computer reboots, use the below link to install Adobe Flash Player.
