the manufacturer should have a one year warranty, and any cell provider should provide a 30 day warranty. If your phone is out of this period you may not be able to get a new phone for free, unfortunatley there are no shortcuts to fix a screen not working, try calling motorola if still in your first year, 866-289-6686
1st make sure that your phone speaker is not malfunction, to do this just play any ring tone from your phone to check whether there is a sound come out from the phone speaker. If there is no problem to hear sound from phone then have to check the phone setting, to do this just PRESS and HOLD the button #, a shortcut to toggle between RING mode and VIBRATE mode. Or goto Setting>Audio>Style Detail, and change the alert type such as sound or music. Make sure u are not in the Silent style mode.
Try to find "personalize" setting of some kind, and then change the smart key to perform something else, so it doesn't go set silent mode. I am not familiar with your phone, but on RAZR v3 smart key activates camera. However you can change it to do something else. The steps would be different for your phone I assume, but if you need an example of the general steps, there are videos on www.HandBookLive.com under Electronics category on Motorola RAZR v3 and there is a chapter on "Chaging Shortcuts"
