Hi, Assuming that the speaker is plug in to the PC and power is also applied to the speaker - If the PC sounds comes out of the headset but not on the speakers, then the speakers are defective. Being new/recently bought, your best course of action would be to bring the unit back for replacement or at least the speakers since trying to repair it would void the warranty. Please remember to bring proof of purchase, warranty card or whatever document(s) are required for this sort of complaint. Good luck and kind regards.

Recently was not able to hear sound on my computer. Have checked all the basics

My 2cents.

1. Check volume control (Mute, device selection etc)
2. Restart the computer.
3. Try using another speaker.
4. Check the device condition at device manager.
5. Try re-installing the driver, shouldn't hurt trying.
6. Check the cables in your desktop. You should be able to find a guide on the connections of your desktop.
7. Replace sound card if all doesn't work.

I recently put a headset for calling and it worked good but after i unplug it my computer has no sound at all..tried doing a system restore but it did not help at all. how do i fix this problem for my...

Hello virac80,

Does your HP desktop have a built in speaker or is it connected to an external speaker system?

You could also check if the audio jack is properly connected to the audio port at the back end of the desktop itself.

Just to be really sure, you can go to your Device Manager & check if your sound card is working fine.

For you to get to Device Manager, click on the Start Menu button, then drag your mouse cursor on top of your My Computer icon, right click that icon then go to Properties.

Choose the Hardware Tab, then choose Device Manager.

Find Sounds, Video & Game controllers. If you don't see any red X mark or exclamation point, everything's okay.

Just double check on your wires if they're all properly plugged in to the correct ports.

My speakers

is the drive for the speakers installed?

Check device manager. This can be done in Win XP by right clicking my computer, properties, hardware, then click device manager. Alternative way to enter device manager is by clicking start menu, control panel, system (performance and maintenance), hardware then device manager.

In the deice manager window see if any question marks or exclamation points are visible.

If so, see if it the mark is for an audio device.

If it is an audio device, uninstall the device.

Have the driver ready for the sound card by either a driver disk or by downloading the driver from the manufacturer website. This would be Dell, gateway, HP if you bought a name brand PC.

If this does not help, I need more details about your computer such as Vender, motherboard, and dedicated sound card if applicable.

Dell GX280 speaker problem..??

Go into the device manager and see if the sound card drivers are installed. If not then you'll need to install the drivers for them.

Sound

Make sure your volume is not on mute. If the speaker icon on your lower right has a red x means its on mute. To test go to control panel and double click sounds and test. If Windows sounds work without speakers then problem is with speakers. Make sure volume is up, make sure its properly connected to correct output jack (usually green or light green). Also make sure speaker power on. If those things are correct check your device manager ( right click my computer) select "manage", click on "device manager" and on right pane check to see if theres any yellow exclamation, question mark or red x on the sound device section. Yellow exclamation or question mark means to update or install correct drivers. Check your speaker box if it comes with a CD.
