If you didn't perform backup on the pda before it happened, there is nowhere you can restore your settings from, try to sync with your pc, if you did it before, you must be able to get your contacts back

Hard reset of my hp ipaq 510 i forgot my password

s.gifs.gifHP iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger Series - Resetting the Device
Sometimes you need to reset your iPAQ if, for example, it is not responding to your pressing a button or your tapping the screen. There are two types of resets.
  • Soft Reset - A soft reset stops all running applications, but does not erase any programs or saved data.
  • Factory or Hard Reset - A factory or hard reset clears all user-installed settings, programs, and data, and restores your iPAQ to factory settings.

Performing a Soft ResetPerform a normal or soft reset to stop all running applications, to restart the iPAQ after installing a new application, or if the iPAQ locks up.CAUTION:Make sure to close all running applications before performing a soft reset, since a soft reset erases all unsaved data in such applications.Perform a soft reset using one of these two options.
  • Turn off the iPAQ by holding down the End key.c01118005.jpg1 - End Key
  • Remove the battery of your iPAQ.

Performing a Factory or Hard ResetPerform a factory or hard reset when there is a need to clear all settings, programs, and data from the RAM.CAUTION:Performing a hard reset will return the iPAQ to its default settings and it loses all information (files and settings, among others) that is not recorded in the ROM. Back up all important information or data before performing a hard reset.Follow these steps to perform a hard reset and return your iPAQ to factory settings.
  1. Turn off your iPAQ by holding down the End key.
  2. Then hold down the center of the 4-Way Navigation key and turn on the iPAQ again while continuing to do so.c01118006.jpg1 - 4-Way Navigation Key2 - End Key
  3. A confirmation screen opens asking whether you want to perform a hard reset or not. SelectYes . The iPAQ will reboot with its original factory settings.
NOTE:The applications and data present on your iPAQ before performing the hard reset can be reinstalled by synchronizing your iPAQ with a computer using ActiveSync/WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Center).NOTE:If you don't want the iPAQ playing a tune after you turn it on, create a new text document and save the document as StartUp.wav. Replace this new document with the file on your device.

Im download app into my hp ipaq, then it hang/jam...it not running like usual..

Hi there,
For hanging/Jam problem, few factors can be involved, First of all you have to check, how much space is being left in phone memory after installing particular applications, To check the settings, Go to settings, Memory,
Solutions:
1. Soft Reset,
Try resetting the device while hold down the End Key for few seconds, when the phone is switched off take off battery for few minutes, then try putting the battery again, It will clear the memory used by the softwares,
CAUTION: Make sure to close all running applications before performing a soft reset, since a soft reset erases all unsaved data in such applications.

Hp rx4540.How to access the Boot loader mode?? .My ipaq just displays the hp logo on start up and then just freezes.Ive tried soft and hard reset.Help please

A factory reset erases all user-installed settings, programs, and data, and restores your HP iPAQ to factory settings.
CAUTION All user-installed settings, programs, and data are erased from memory with a factory reset.
To perform a factory reset and return your HP iPAQ to factory settings:
  1. Press and hold the OK and Rotate Screen buttons.
  2. While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the HP iPAQ until the device restarts.
  3. When the HP iPAQ restarts, release all of the buttons, and then remove the stylus from the Reset button.
The HP iPAQ will now restart and power on.

If you have done the above and still no go. Then your main drive has probably failed.

Data missing - Ipaq model HP5555 - did not do hard reset

Hello,

I'm sorry but the HP Ipaq 55xx series store data on a volatile ram based memory. Unlike a nand flash (like usb sticks, memory cards etc) this memory will hold data only as long as it's powered on. If your main battery gets empty you should still be able to retain your files for some 10-20hrs with the backup battery (if it's ok itself and not depleted). After this time the power to the ram memory is cut off and all data is lost.
The problem you face is somewhat related to that backup battery, as it appears it's unable to do it's job and maintain the power to the ram memory at least some 10 hrs. You should have that battery replaced.

There is no way to recover the data from the ram memory as it is stored as an electric charge over some memory cells in the ram chips. When there is no power, these charges dissipate and the pattern is lost.

I'm sorry for having to give the bad news.

HP-iPaq 2215 battery replacement

Hi, Jim--
When you take the battery out of an IPAQ you're performing a hard reset. I've got 4 different IPAQs and it does the same thing on all of them.
My solution was to back the IPAQ up using the internal backup program (back up to IPAQ storage) and then replace the battery, then restore the last backup.
Saved me a heck of a lot of time. It's been hard to remember to back up everytime I add a program or change data majorly, but it's probably the best thing to do.

Doesn't start up

Hi, Based on your post/description, your iPaq 2210 will not power on. It is possible that your battery is deactivated. To reactivate, plug it to the AC power supply/adaptor, press reset at the back of the unit. Assuming no other problem, the unit will initialize back to default factory settings. It's very likely that all your previous/personal settings, files and applications will be also gone. Good luck and pls post back how things turn up. Kind regards.

A hard reset will get it back for you, but you will lose your data. So either backup first, then restore it. Or sync to PC and back if it's just OUTLOOK data.
