How do you set the clock and date on a EL-1197P3??

    Cannot re-set time

    Every time I try to set the date on my new Sharp EL-1197P III as per the instructions the LED's display an Error message. I have the instructions and have read and thought I understood them. What's going on?

The only thing try to figure out is how to set the the Aand P for the time. Ifollowed the instructions of setting up the time and it do not include the set up up of AM and PM. I wish I can get a hint.Thank you

Use the 24-hour clock to set it for pm.
Example: 1 PM = 13.0
3:15 PM = 15.15
5 PM = 17.0

How do you change date and time on Sharp EL 1750Piii
Below are the steps to assist you in
setting the Date and Time on your calculator.

NOTE: The "Time Set", "AM/PM", "12/24" and "Format" associated keys are
on the faceplate above the respective key. Position the calculator so
that you can look directly over the keypad to see the notations.

Setting the date:

1. Press the CALENDAR/CLOCK Key. The default date will appear.

2. Hold the TIME SET key down for 3 seconds or until you see the first
digit begin to blink in the display.

3. Input the correct date.

4. Firmly press and release the TIME SET key. The first digit should
stop blinking and the date is then set.

Setting the time:

1. Press the CALENDAR/CLOCK key. The default time will appear.

2. Hold the TIME SET key down for 3 seconds or until you see the first
digit begin to blink in the display.

NOTE: The seconds will disappear.

3. Input the correct time. If you need to adjust to AM or PM, press
the AM/PM accordingly.

4. Firmly press and release the TIME SET key. The first digit should
stop blinking and the time is then set. The seconds will again be
displayed.

Follow by pressing the CLEAR key to return to the calculator mode. To
return to either the TIME or DATE, press the CALENDAR/CLOCK key to
toggle between them.

How do I set the date and time
First set to "Rate Set"

Then enter the month, day and year seperated by a "." then hit the Clock/Date button. So 7-7-09 would be entered as 7.07.2009.

It's the same idea to set the clock. You use a 24 hour period. So 4:12pm would be entered as 16.12.

Sharp EL-1801P III Calculator Setting Time & Date
1. Switch the GT*RATE SET button to RATE SET.
2. Press the date/clock button to display current time.
3. Enter time wanted using military time. 4:52 p.m would be entered as 16.52 (Note the 16 is followed by . then enter the 52. (ie. 10:45 a.m. would be entered as 10.45)
4. Press the date/clock button again to enter new time.

Just reset mine and is current. If the built in battery needs changed, access panel is on the back. It uses a watch type battery.

Setting time & Date
I copied this from another post & it worked for me:

To enter the date

1. Be sure to switch to "rate set" from GT
2. Enter the month
3. Press the decimal point
4. Enter the day
5. Press the decimal point
6. Enter the year
Example 3.09.2007
7. Press the button that look like a clock/calendar

To enter the time

1. Be sure to switch to "rate set" from GT
2. Enter the hour (please use military time)
3. Press the decimal
4. Enter the minutes
Example: 13.24 or 9.24
5. Press the button that look like a clock/calendar

Then change the "rate set" back to the GT setting.
