Hi.
If you leave your tv in standby try switching it off properly at tv switch leave a few hrs then switch on.
Have you got hifi speakers or anything that is magnetic near tv if yes move it away from set switch set off wait a few hrs then switch on.
Or if the above has not sorted problem the set has a fault with the degause circuit. Its not to bad to repair but you will need to use soldering iron.

Please verify the correct tv source is selected as i think the green screen is the no signal indicator.
If it is the correct source , perhaps the tv is not compatible with the output of the dvd player. It might be wide screen or wrong aspect ratio and gives you a green screen .
If neither of those help, be sure to try another cable.
It might be due to picture tube problem... As its too old, the picture tube might be weak and hence you might get colors at the edges.. Better replace the picture tube with a new one to solve this problem
Check for any loose soldering points on the video output card [ a circuit baord located at the neck of the pircture tube]. Resolder all the suspected solder points. Green colour out put is absend now with your Tv.
good day maybe your tv has a defect, or loose connection in the main board, needs to resolder the main board. only the qualified technician can do this job. to fix your problem.
It sounds like your TV may need degausing.
Is your TV situated near to any loudspeakers or other devices with large magnets inside them? Or has anyone been near your TV screen with a magnet???
You need to try to get the screen demagnetised (degaussed). Many TV engineers have a degausing coil that could do this. It only takes around 20 seconds at most.
Some TV's like Mitsubishi have a DG button on the remote, that does this function without the need to call out an engineer! It only needs one press of the button every few years!
Hi.
The problem is either the degaus positor has failed which is an easy repair.
Or have you recently placed hifi speakers or something with a strong magnet in side near your tv set.
