I am in an office environment. I just swopped a non-caller id phone with a caller id phone. The calls come through just fine, but the caller ID part doesn't work. It's not displaying incoming calls. Does the phone have to be reset in some way or does something have to be done with the actual phone line? The phone line the caller ID phone came from was exactly the same(just different extension) and it worked just fine. Thanks!

The phone also won't ring, but it works other than that. Same phone will display on a different line. A different phone won't display hooked to that line. Changed the cable. Hooked it directly to the extension at it's core, still doens't work. The phone also won't ring, but it works other than that. Same phone will display on a different line. This is a Definity system phone. The phones themselves have nothing to do with caller ID, it's the system that handles it. The phone line has to have the caller ID service AND the phone system needs to collect the information and then display it on your phone. If you are sure caller ID service is available on the phone line you are using than this is a programming issue. Definity is a huge system and you cannot program it yourself. Someone in your building is either in charge of making simple changes in the phone system or contacting the company that makes these changes for you.

Hello Samiran mandal, here is a solution.I purchased one cordless telephone (Siemens Gigaset) in Germany. I also had the same problem, caller-id did not work. I purchased this telephone because we can set different ringtones for different caller groups. But, if caller-id doesn't work, this feature also doesn't work. I had gone through internet and finally found that CA electronics, Bangalore has it and got it through courier (I live in Pondicherry). It worked flawlessly for two years. Then it stopped working. For 'no reason' I ordered for a 'caller-id' unit on ebay for Rs.75/- (+ Rs.75 shipping). I just got the unit and fixed it to my line. Very very surprisingly, my cordless telephone is now showing caller info. This is a real surprise to me. By the way, caller-id unit is "Eurotel" make, DTMF/FSK caller-id. I feel this is very nice solution. The 'caller-id' unit is nice (backlit display) and also there is no need of converter for using the caller-id feature of your foreign telephone. I connected caller-id between the line and telephone. That's all. Enjoy.
Is this an IP Office? This is how it works. For some reason the IP Office waits for teh first 2 rings to get caller ID, and then lets the call ring in.
The T.V. caller ID is from your phone provider. The T.V. itself shouldn't have any impact on how the caller ID works. I would call your phone company and see what they say, it sounds like a problem on their end.
Did you fully charge your phone? - Make sure you fully charge for 16-24 hours .
Is the battery old? - Replace the battery.
Is the electrical outlet switch turned on? - If you are using AC (electrical) power, make sure that the unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet.
Are the connecting wires tight - Unplug the AC power converter from the unit and plug it back in.
Do you have CallerID service with your telephone company - In order to receive CallerID records, you must subscribe to the standard name and number CallerID service available through your local telephone company. If the CallerID works for normal calls but not on Call waiting calls, then you must contact your phone company to get the combined CID/CW service.
CallerID shows up after second ring - Be sure to wait until the second ring before answering. CallerID signals comes through after the first ring, if caller pick ups phone too soon CallerID signal will not be transmitted to the handset.
Confirm that callerID is still working on that particular line by checking another phone on the same line - If CallerID is not coming through contact your phone company provider.
If this does not fix your problem, contact your authorized Service Center.*
Please download this manual, and study e.g on page 21 About caller ID
If you subscribe to caller ID service from your local telephone company, this feature displays the
name and telephone number of the caller before answering a call (even when you are on another
call). The caller ID features of this product will work only if you subscribe to caller ID service and
both you and the caller are in areas offering caller ID service, and if both telephone companies use
compatible equipment.
Contact your local telephone company if:
• you have both caller ID and call waiting, but as separate services (you may need combined service),
• you have only caller ID service, or only call waiting service,
• you do not subscribe to caller ID or call waiting services but wish to try them.
There may be fees for these services, and they may not be available in all areas.
This product can be used without subscribing to either caller ID or combined caller ID with call waiting
service, although the caller ID features of this product will not function.

Thanks for using FixYa. I think you have stored more than 100 Caller ID messages and hence the caller ID is not showing on Uniden Tru8888.In the following cases the caller ID will not be shown-
If you answer a call before the Caller ID message is received (for example, before the second ring), the Caller ID message will not appear.
When the call is received via a telephone company that does not offer Caller ID service, the caller’s phone number and name does not appear. (This includes some international calls.)
When the call is via a private branch exchange (PBX), the caller's phone number and name may not appear.
You may receive any one of the following messages:
When a private name is received; Private Name
When a private number is received; Private Number
When a unknown name is received; Unknown Name
When a unknown number is received; Unknown Number
When invalid data is received; Incomplete Data
The Caller ID list stores information for incoming calls - even unanswered calls. You can store up to 100 Caller ID messages and phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) for each handset and the base. You can view the Caller ID list through the handset or base during a call or when the phone is in standby mode.
Memory locations for Caller ID messages and Phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) are common, you can store up to all 100 entries for each handset and the base. Caller ID messages are not stored when you have 100 phonebook entries. When you have stored a total of 100 phonebook entries and Caller ID messages, the oldest Caller ID message is overwritten.
Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.
I had the same problem - until today. Seems that the phone jack wiring in my living room needs repairing. Receiving and making calls is no problem, but the Caller ID is first to go (according to phone service provider). I tried out the phone in the bedroom, and the Caller ID shows up fine. Serviceman coming tomorrow to fix the L/R wiring.
Any Caller Id phone bought in USA will not show the id as the Caller id format in USA is FSK and in India it is DTMF. You need a caller id converter from DTMF to FSK. It is available online on www.ebay.in Just type DTMF to FSK converter and the item will be displayed. Right now it is avilable only with a seller in Bangalore and the price is Rs.589/- per piece. I bought it and it is working fine.

The phone also won't ring, but it works other than that. Same phone will display on a different line. A different phone won't display hooked to that line. Changed the cable. Hooked it directly to the extension at it's core, still doens't work.
