Freezer not working

The fridge is working ok. when the freezer is switched on, the compressor (the one without the water tray above it - assume is freezer compressor ?) is very hot to touch (it's still warm now having turned the freezer off over 2 hours ago). there is no clicking noise coming from the compressor. is this a compressor or a thermostat problem ? appx how much should it cost to get a new compressor fitted ? thanks !

i have exactly the same problem, freezer packed up - everything has defrosted, the condenser at the back is too hot to touch when freezer is switched on however no chill in the compartment.

    Fridge is still running fine.

Product is only 2 years old!!

Any further info on what is the problem/cost??

    Thanks

The question is: Are you seeing water inside the fridge where it shouldn't be? Are there water stains in the try? Some of these have no tube, the water just drips from a small hole above the tray.

Freezer compressor is short cycling

Red light on for High Freezer Temperature Warning
or freezer not cooling, but fridge is and a lot of noise from compressor.
Also, fridge drain hole blocked, water in bottom of fridge.

This is a common fault in Hotpoint Fridge Freezers and can also happen if the door has been left open or has been a power cut.

1. Turn off fridge freezer, or at least turn down the freezer temp to minimum, though not ideal.
2. Open freezer door and remove all drawers.
3. Remove the back panel on the inside of the freezer. This is held in place with 4 screws, which might be 6mm hex head or star allen head. Pull the panel out.
4. Behind where the panel was, there is a cooling element for cooling, pipes, and below this a temperature sensor. If the fridge freezer is not switched off, then fold together a few layers of tinfoil and wrap around the sensor.
5. Use a hairdryer to slowly melt the ice. Melt it around areas where it appears to be hanging on, such as the corners of the cooling element or bolts, as well as any thin sections below the main block of ice around the cooling element, which will be supporting the main block. Use a plastic ice scraper to remove ice but not near pipes or sensor.
Warning: Be careful using electrics around water & melting ice & drips.
6. Below the cooling element, there is a drip channel & drain hole. If this hole is full of ice, pour a small amound of warm water down, leave for 10 seconds and pour a bit more until clear.
In the fridge, clear the drain hole in the same way.
Warning: Do not pour a lot of water down, as this water drains onto a tray above the hot compressor at the rear of the fridge freezer to be evaporated by the heat of the compressor and the tray will only hold a small amount.
7. When all ice is removed, dry all moisture. Put the shelves back. Close door. Turn on fridge freezer. Turn up the freezer temperature to your normal setting. Turn on fast freeze if available. After 1 hour, check with a thermometer. It should be cold enough after 1 or 2 hours.

I have a sharp fridge SJ-P49N-SL. A recent power outtage in the area lasted 8 hours. When the power came back on, the fridge seemed to be ok. But, after 5-6 hours of operation, the freezer is not cold...

Checked Freezer Fan is working. Also checked defrost Fuse in freezer.
To checked freezer fan is working or not open freezer door press Door Switch and checked Cold air is coming from duct or not.

Black tray above compressor is filling up with water on a RLA50

hi there.the tube your speaking about comes from the rear of the fridge down to the plactic tray on top of the compressor...and is used for conveying condensed water from the fridge to the dri tray where it is evaporated by the running heat of the comressor....excessive water can be caused by a faulty fridge door seal....door not closing correctly...and the possibility that your fridge setting is to low....or sited close to a working radiator

Water is dripping from the freezer into the fridge from above. Ice has formed under sliding freezer tray.( Whirlpool 21- Model# ET21DKXDN04 )

Sounds like the water produced from defrost cycle is the problem. There is a tube designed to carry the water to the compressor compartment where it evaporates. you will need to onclog the tube by taking the back off freezer compartment to access .Under the condensor is a tray that collects the water. There you should see the hole that needs to be blown out. Compressed air works great. Hope this helps.

ARISTON FRIDGE FREEZER MBA 3842C PROBLEM

It should work the same as before. Does the compressor get really hot after running a while? If so it could be low on charge, or there could be a restriction inside the refrigeration system. Either way a professional would have to look at it.
