Question about Toshiba MW30G71 30 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo
The TV will turn on, but I can only hear a high pitched whine, nothing actually shows up on the screen at all. This started last night when I turned the set off. Is thing going to have to go in for repair? I'm leaving it unplugged while I'm at work today.

Hi, If after trying the TV again later and problem persist, repairs are in order. A high pitched whine is an indication of a fault at the horizontal section of your TV. The horizontal provides the high voltage for the picture tube. Your best bet maybe to seek the services of a qualified professional TV repairman since this involves component level repair, soldering/desoldering, use of soldering iron and VOM (testers) and knowledge of circuitry. Good luck and kind regards.

sounds like the Power Transformer to me, usually accompanied by a high pitch (almost inaudiable whine) and sparks arcing.
This needs a professional repair..
