You'll need your security code. If you didn't make one try "0000" or "the last 4 of your phone number". 1. Press menu in the "stand by mode" 2. Select "settings" and "security settings" 3. Select "Memory" if will ask for your code. 4 you now have the option of either using the "phone memory" or the "SIM memory" or "both". Try both. See what happens then try phone only. Its up to you. Your phone has "shared" memory. Your messages, contacts, pictures and even ring tones share the memory.

Try this: Press Menu in Stdby mode->go to settings->phone settings->memory status. That will tell you how much memory is being used by each of the features. Pg74

You may need to delete some of your pictures or messages in order to see your contacts.

I have not used the phone in many years. How do I find out what the Phone number is

Some phones have the ability to show you the number. Some require that the number is entered.

It's a good idea if you get a new SIM to make an entry A name of provider and a service number of the provider to the SIM. e.g. the first entry in my phone book is A *****. That way when I boot up the phone and press names/search/search the first entry will be that name. Of course you have to wait for the SIM to "warm" up before it can be used.

If the problem still persist check the phone contact, and check the settings. try to check if your using both phone memory and sim card memory at once. Just select only one if phone memory or sim card memory to use as phone book storage. thanks

I have a nokia n95-1. I have copied sim contacts to the phone which have duplicated when I synchronised with Outlook. I can cope with that. What I dont understand is why the numbers of any of my contacts...

When you receive a phone call, the phone will look up in it's address book to see if it can find a match for that number, if there is only one match, great, it will display it, if there is more than one match, it would be difficult for the phone to 'guess' at who is calling, so instead it just displays the number.

First make sure you do not have duplicate Entries for the same number.
I would suggest you to do the following:
  1. Make sure you have copied all the contacts from your SIM to Phone
  2. Delete all the Entries from your SIM by selecting them at once
  3. Make sure you do not have any Duplicate Entry in the phone book
  4. If you suspect having duplicate entries, Sync. the phone with Outlook and search for Duplicate entries to delete them

Please make sure you have selected the default memory as SIM and Phone. If you have stored your contacts in the Address book of your Phone memory and selected the Sim card memory as the default phone book it is obvious that when receiving a call your phone will try to look for that number in the default memory selected by you or vise-versa.
Go to phonebook > Settings > and select the memory in use as Phone and SIM

Hope it is not confusing

Please get back for any clarification

Thank you for using Fixya

2. Touch any of the following options to activate a function:
• My Business Card: attaches a user created virtual business card
as an attachment to outgoing messages.
• Save New Contacts to: defines the destination for new contact

• Fixed Dial Contacts: assigns phone numbers as FDN entries

The problem is most likely because on your previous phone the names and numbers were stored on the phone memory and the sim card memory. Before removing your sim card from the old phone, you first need to copy all names and numbers from the phone memory to the sim memory and then when you transfer the sim card to the new phone you should have all the names and numbers as before. Just beware of a few potential problems. First, sim memory only generally allows entries of 14 characters and secondly there is often a limit to the overall capacity of names/numbers to 250 or maybe 300. So if you have a huge directory, you will in effect need to copy the data in blocks of say 250 entries from one phone memory to the other using the sim card as a portable memory device or else try a phone shop like Carphone Warehouse who might just do the whole job for you.

Nokia 7373 problems with name directory

First i want to tell you that there are two ways to store your name + number entries on the mobile phone 1 Sim memory 2 Phone memory in your case the number must be in phone memory you may be previously entered and i like you also have some memory patch on your phone these often cause such problems Solution note all you entries on a note book and delete all the contract and then reenter them again .. or else try format you mobile phone which is a bit annoying thing
