This is the logo for HSDPA (High Speed Data Packet Application). this means that your phone is in a HSDPA coverage area. Most of the new generation phones have HSDPA, and you will note that this logo will change from suburb to suburb. It will change to 2G symbol, normal GSM signal symbol and no network symbol as you drive around. Check your phone manual. It will be on your "key" for your display.

its the symbol for the 3g signal to turn it off go into menu then to settings, scroll across to connectivity then to mobile networks and then to gsm/3g network and select gsm only, it should then go away
