Wireless will connect but not surf internet

Sounds like your router is connected to the modem, but the modem is not connected to your ISP. Is this a new connection or a sudden problem? Unplug power to modem and router. Plug in modem first, then router. Do you need password for ISP? If connected, recommend downloading Netgear Genie for your WNDR3400.

I have had this router for about a year with no connection problems. As of a few days ago I realized that I could no longer get connected with my phone or my ipad. What happened? The power symbol is lit....

Unplug the router.
Plug your computer network cable (if you can and have it) directly into the modem, bypassing the router.
If directly connected modem gives no Internet connection - call your ISP tech support.
If the Internet connection is provided by the modem directly - shut down the router for at least one minute, while shut off, plug the cables from modem back into it, restart router, give it some time to launch services (appr.2-4 min), then check Internet connection on the devices.
If still no joy - 1. Connect your computer to the router (LAN port) using an Ethernet cable. Make sure your IP address on the computer is 192.168.0.### (where ### is between 2 and 254). Please see the Networking Basics section for more information. If you need to change the settings, write down your existing settings before making any changes. In most cases, your computer should be set to receive an IP address automatically in which case you will not have to do anything to your computer. 2. Open a web browser and enter http://192.168.0.1 and press Enter. When the login window appears, login using your router authentication credentials (see it on the back, if you never changed it).
Check internet, LAN and wireless settings (on/off? Firmware updates?).

The internet is down the dsl light on the modem is blinking red

Hi,

I experienced the same problem yesterday with my modem, the internet is down as a result of the fact that the computer doesn't recognize the remote modem, hence the dsl light blinks red, when the internet is up the dsl lights should blink green, the problem is mostly from your internet provider, few times from your computer.

The solution is so simple;

1.Remove the modem from your computer.
2.Shut down your computer.
3.Turn on your computer again after at least 3mins.
4.Insert the modem in your computer and connect to the internet.
5.It might take up to a few attempts before it gets connected to the internet.

Problem solved.

I keep having intermittant internet conection.

ensure that you dont overheat the modem downloading too much, because if you need to shut down the modem for it to work its because it needs to refresh, you can put some ice on the modem to reduce this effect :P

D-link cant accesed internet 4pc

Most of DSL modems are connected to PC with USB cable...
n if ur server is connected with other pc on lan .. you can use internet sharing option available in winxp.

Following are the steps to enable Internetsharing for other pcs.

How to use Internet Connection Sharing loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); To use Internet Connection Sharing to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter that is configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem that is configured to connect to the Internet.

On the host computer loadTOCNode(3, 'summary'); On the host computer, follow these steps to share the Internet connection:
  1. Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Network and Internet Connections.
  4. Click Network Connections.
  5. Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet. For example, if you connect to the Internet by using a modem, right-click the connection that you want under Dial-up.
  6. Click Properties.
  7. Click the Advanced tab.
  8. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.
  9. If you are sharing a dial-up Internet connection, select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box if you want to permit your computer to automatically connect to the Internet.
  10. Click OK. You receive the following message: When Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP
address 192.168.0.1. Your computer may lose connectivity with other computers on
your network. If these other computers have static IP addresses, it is a good idea to set them
to obtain their IP addresses automatically. Are you sure you want to enable Internet
    Connection Sharing?
  11. Click Yes.
The connection to the Internet is shared to other computers on the local area network (LAN). The network adapter that is connected to the LAN is configured with a static IP address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

let me know if it helps.

best regards,

D-link di514

Hi,

Try the DSL modem directly connected to the PC.No D-Link Router(powered off and disconnected). Verify that the PCcould surf/browse/connect to the Internet. Go to Start, Control Panel,Network Connections, right click Local Area Connection, Properties, scroll down to/highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Properties button.Get the IP Add, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS assigned to the PC(write this down. This will be your WAN/Internet IP settings). Then Disable DHCP of your modem if it has one. OK, close, save or whatever is applicable.

Disconnect the DSL modem from the PC. Connect D-Link Router to PC (wired/LAN) without the modem connected to the router.Go again to Start, Control Panel, Network Connections, right clickLocal Area Connection, Properties, scroll down to/highlight InternetProtocol(TCP/IP), Properties button. Tick "Use the following IPaddress". Enter this IP Add 192.168.0.10, Subnet Mask255.255.255.0,Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 and the DNS from what youhave written down earlier). This will be your LAN IP settings. OK,close, save or whatever is applicable.

Open a browser and log into the D-Link router (192.168.0.1, using "admin" as a username and no password). Do not run Wireless Network Setup Wizard. In WAN/Internet/Modem setting of router enable/check Static IP Add.Usethe IP numbers previously assigned to PC that you have written down asthe router's WAN/Internet/Modem IP settings. OK, close, save orwhatever is applicable. Reboot router. Connect DSL modem to router.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
