Question about Boating
Even thought there are many expert tech's with sometimes more years of experience on this site than some you may find working in a repair shop, and of course many that simply give you their guess as the correct answer. I would recommend calling a Johnson Outboard Dealer or an outboard repair shop.

replace the plugs ,points and condenser and water pump imppellor first then start it up with the correct mix of two stroke oil and fuel mix in a barrel of water and make sure it runs before attempting the put it on a boat and go out

most 2 stroke motors will not burn all the oil in the mix and that unburned oil coats the exhaust leg and leaks out the thru hub exhaust and parting line of the lower to the housing. so keep some windex handy and clean it up.
