How do I replace the coin trap in an Asko W620?

Someone tried to open the coin trap in my washer and seems to have damaged the seal as it now leaks as soon as I start to fill it. I purchased a replacement coin trap and was told it was "very easy" to replace, but when I look at the machine, it is not obvious to me how to remove and replace the existing trap, which seems to have a gasket holding it in place. Any help will be appreciated.

Sounds like the motor brushes need to be cleaned or replaced. Take the back off the washer, remove the motor and gently scrape the excess carbon or debris off the brushes with a pocket knife. I did this and it ran well for about 50 loads before building back up. I am ordering new brushes now because when I checked the brushes last week they were obviously worn more than 4 weeks ago.

Sounds like your fill solenoid has stuck in the open position. There are 3 #20 Torx fittings along the back and you can lift off the top panel. The solenoid will be in the back left side.

I would shut off your house water supply to the machine and then do a voltage check to see if the solenoid is remaining energized. Another more simple option is to give the device a few light taps as some debris may have become trapped inside and caused it to become stuck open.

Hi Jacqueline, the filter will usually have a rubber o-ring gasket to seal the opening to prevent leaks. When you cleaned it,the gasket may have kinked, torn or popped out of the groove that holds it in place. Open the filter and check if the gasket is in place, if not slide it back into the groove and that should stop it from leaking. Also check the small drain hose, make sure the stopper is in. That should take care of any leaks in that area. If the leak continues I would suggest calling a local repair company. Hope that helps.

Our Asko washing machine (model W620) stopped draining and spinning. It sounds like a loose chain is rattling around inside. I've heard this since we moved it out of storage last summer, but it seemed to...

Hi, Yes it sound's like perhaps you have debris rattling around in your drain pump & buttom trap insert. If you'll note there is a small square door to the lower right below the main door. With the aid of a flat screw driver flip open this panel and you'll reveal the pump filter/button trap. Turn it counter clockwise to remove it ( make sure you have some towels handy or a shop vac to catch the water or let it drain into a floor drain if present ) and once removed inspect the inside of the pump ( thoroughly...you only want to do this once ) as well as the trap for foreign objects such as coins, small stones, button's, jewelry etc. This will prevent the unit from spinning by the way, so once remedied it should be ok. ( the pump itself can make a violent rattling noise when faulty as well, but this will be a process of elimination ). This is where I'd start if I was on site servicing your washer. Let me know if this was helpful and I'll watch for your response. There are other possibilities as well of course, but this is the most common by far so we'll cross that bridge if need be. Good luck and thank you for coming to fixya. Please take a second to rate this answer if it was helpful, if not, let me know and I'll guide you through other possible scenario's. Macmarkus :)
