Any brand should compatible with your Westtell, as long they have same range of frequency (i.e 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz), etc...

I will recommend 3Com, Linksys and D-Link.

What wireless router can i get that is compatible with my T180

I know for a fact that a netgear router is compatible, because I have one but honestly any wireless router, regardless of brand, should work for you, provided it is set up correctly and your wireless card/adapter on you computer is setup correctly (i.e. drivers loaded, turned on, etc.). Let me know if you have any questions.

What kind of wireless card is compatible?

The best thing to buy is a USB wireless NIC (network interface card). avoid linksys and netgear. Belikin, D-link, hole in the wall $5 one online. If you want an internal one then you will need a PCI wireless NIC. If you dont have any free white PCI slots on *********** board then you have to go with the usb. You should go with the USB anyway, plug it into one of the 6 ports you probably have and install. Always install the software.

Wireless Adapter

Your best bet would be to get a wireless USB adapter. Not only can you plug it in and use it on your laptop, but you can use it on any computer if you needed to. One like this would work like a charm: Netgear Wireless USB

Emachine model T3302 desktop ethernet question

Hi,

The "Realtek RTL 8139/810X family fast Ethernet NIC card" is a wired networking device. What you need is a WiFi Networking which can either be a PCI card (you need to open the PC and physically mount it inside) or perhaps the easiest, is to get a USB WiFi. There are so many brands, models and versions available and just about any would work. You need to verify though that the USB WiFi is compatible with your daughter PC's operating System (XP or Vista). Some known good brands are LinSys, DLink, NetGear. Some models/versions are simple gadgets that they look like a thumb/flash drive while others have a USB cable with a tabletop mount/rack/cradle.

Such can be bought from any computer shoppe/store. Most models come with an instruction/installer/driver CD that you need to run first before plugging in the WiFi USB.

If you already have an existing DSL account that connects to the Realtek, you would also need to get a Wireless AP/Router. It would probably be easier if you get a match pair (same brand)

If this is a completely new DSL WiFi setup, you need to get in touch with any WiFi Provider in your area. Most would provide a free USB WiFi Adapter if you subscribe to them so there would be no need to buy the USB WiFi adapter nor the Wireless AP/Router.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turn out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Wireless network setup

Hi,

Based on your post, you currently have a working Netgear WiFi Card installed in your laptop. What you want to do is remove it from the laptop and install the said card to your desktop.

For your desktop to be able to accept the NetGear WFi card which is a PCMCIA Cardbus device, you need to install either:
1. a USB Adapter for PCMCIA as shown here; or
2. a CardBus/PCMCIA to PCI Adapter Card available here.

Either one will work. Of course you need to install the necessary drivers for the NetGear MA701NA in your desktop which is available from the CD installer that came with the NetGear or online here.

Considering the cost of the USB adapter or the PCMCIA to PCI card, you may want consider buying a PCI WiFi card or USB WiFi dongle.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
