Unfortunately you can't....

The ink level indicator cannot be manually re-set in the newer HP, Lexmark or Dell integrated ink cartridges, thus making it not usable. The OEMs all leverage 'fusible links' in the nozzle plate (internal to base of ink cartridge) which physically blows the resistors as the original ink is consumed...thus resetting the ink cartridge's ink level monitoring capability is simply not possible. The ink tracking feature is only available with a brand new ink cartridge.

However, losing this feature is not necessarily significant, because the ink level indicator usually has 20%-30% ink remaining when it shows "low on ink". Therefore, the warning has limited value, because customers who prematurely replace their cartridges when they see the "low ink" message are wasting a lot of residual ink.

Refer to any of the following videos which cover this 'low ink' subject in detail:

http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1261 (HP 92-99 Nuisance Messages)

SOURCE: Reset ink level on CANON MP 140 PIXMA PRINTER

How to reset the Canon MP150 after a refill (Step 10 concerns refill; instructions below the steps):
Method1 (Safe Factory Method):
1) Disconnect the printer’s power outlet
2) Press and hold the power button while connecting the power outlet back.
3) While still holding down the power button, press the reset button twice.(red circle with a triangle)
4) Release the power button
The printer takes about 10 seconds to show the number 0.
5) Press + to change the value from 0 to 1.
6) When this value is 1, press colour button; this will light up two leds.
One is for plain paper and the other for photo paper. At this point is feed the printer with paper.
7) Press the power button twice and the printer will print a some stuff (if it doesn't print by itself, then press the "color" button once and the test sheet will print). Don’t worry much about the printed material. I got some stripped lines and some numbers. I believe that my colour cartridge is clogged which is why I got the green strips.
When you print this sheet the value in the display returns to zero.
8 ) Open the printer cover cover (not the scanner cover) and remove the cartridges. With the printer still open, disconnect the power outlet.
9) Close the lid and turn on the printer.
10) Refill cartridges and place them back in their nice little abode in the printer.

SOURCE: My refilled ink cartridge still displays empty and will not print

The ink cartridge is most likely chipped & you would not be able to reset the ink level. Purchase an original or a good compatible cartridge. Refiling newer cartridges is not a good idea.

How do I refill the Epson Stylus SX125 ink cartridges ?

You can refill an Epson ink cartridge, but you will need an "SK168-II Chip Resetter" to clear and reset the cartridge memory chip. The cartridge will still show as empty after refilling and not work until it is reset. The refill ink should have come with an instruction sheet. If not check their web site for instructions. If the cartridge has been empty for a while and you can hear the sponge inside when shaking it - it has fried out and cannot be refilled. The dust particles from the dried sponge will plug up the jets.

Some aftermarket printer ink sales web sites will offer the chip resetter for Epson printers.

I have an HP F4580 printer, and have just refilled both ink cartridges. However the printer won't allow me to print as it thinks the ink has gone. How can I reset my printer to display ink cartridge...

Often they have a chip mounted on the cartridge which monitors usage and when it determines that there is no ink remaining, it will disable the printer. Some companies sell compatible cartridges and reset the chip counter. But unless you reset the chip, even tho the cartridge is full of ink, the chip still disables the printer.

Replaced black ink #8 with refilled cartridge from Cartridge World. Can't get message "In has run out" to go away, despite holding down the Stop/Reset button for over 5 seconds. Advice?

Just press and hold Stop/Reset (inverted triangle in a circle) button for five seconds. This is because there is a memory chip in this cartridges and this chip shows the ink level. In your case the chip is not restarted.Pressing and holding the Stop/Reset button will releases the function for detecting the remaining ink level of the above ink.The printer shows empty cartridges but it will printing.

You can't reset the ink level on all Canon Pixma printers. You need to turn off the function on printer to show the ink level. On your printer this happen with push consistently buttons for black copy (for turn of level on black cartridge) and color copy (for turn of level in color cartridge). The printer

When refilling canon ip4500 cartridge they still show empty

I'm sorry you got that STUPID answer first. The Canon cartridges you use have a chip or small circuit board on the bottom front. You have to either reset that chip or get the reset chips from the place you get your ink. That little chip tells your printer how much ink has been used and once they are empty refilling doesn't help without a new or reset chip.

I use the refill ink cart, its still shown empty

reefing a ink cartridge is some time much complicate more than you think. there is a programable chip inside ink cartridge. after refill you have to reset that chip also. to reset the chip you have to build small hardware to communicate with that chip. also simple software to reset the chip. :) send me the printer model number you want to fill and cartridge number. i'll show you the steps you have to follow.

How do I reset the ink levels?

We have an issue of missing or replace yellow cartridge. Please feel free to contact the HP support for replacement of the printer, if the printer is in warranty status. HP would replace the printer.
